Don't feel bad....sometimes you just aren't prepared for an autograph. I haven't obtained the signatures of anyone famous in the "currency collector's" realm, but a few years back I met Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS and all I could do was take the shirts off my youngest two kids backs and have them sign them. :) I think I also came up with a postcard for them to sign. A long time before that I ran into Dan Aykroyd and all I could come up with was a matchbook to sign! Sometimes you just gotta go with what you have! The fact that you had a note at all that was so closely related to him is very cool! Besides, wouldn't want to mess up a really nice note with ink now would you? ;)

Thanks. To be honest, the first name that popped in my head was Arthur Friedberg, but then I thought what connection could he have to a German note. I then remembered that "Pick" numbers were used to catalog world currency, but never knew that was actually named after someone until I did a little more "research". I spent a lot of time on "dead ends" too....like the "Music" tangent I went off on (thought lettow was being tricky) and then I found that article numbered 8855 (matching the note) in a GERMAN library and it was about the US Dollar and the Euro so I really spent some time following that lead! ;) So not only did I win, but I sure learned a lot today. On the downside, I had to spend about an extra hour at work to catch back up. ;)
