OOH! That 1943 is a war nickel!!! My favorite series to collect. Do some reading up on them and teach me a little something about them. I challenge you.
Think alml the tings i found out about them you allready wil know. I must admit that i did not know there where war nickels. I just tought that the position of the mintmark was some sort of test from the mint to make it more visible or something like that. And actualt with that tought i was not very wrong it seems, They were planned to be removed from circulation after the war, and the mintmark on that postition was easyer to recognize them to remove them. Also these are the first coins with the P minimark made, before the war nickels no P mintmarkls where placed on coins. There is silver in then (didnt know that either), copper and maganese (i think that is something like magnesium, but im not sure, need to search it up first) They where made because the nickel was being used to make armor plating.
Glad you took the time to further expand your knowledge! :thumb: You also learned a few things Glad you like them. I'll be sending a couple when I get to sending.
only thing i cant seem to find out is all the dates and mintmarks from the war nickels. One site says there are 11, other site says 14 another sais 13,... Can someone provide me with the right list please?
I have NEVER seen the back of a two dollar bill before. That thing is awesome! If I had one Id proably have to start collecting bills too lol.
There are quite a bit of 2 dollar bill varieties. If you start with one you might be tempted to get the rest.
A complete set will include 11 coins, 1942 P-D, 1943 P-D-S, 1944-P-D-S, and 1945 P-D-S. Anyone who can confirm or denie this info please?
