Thank you..physics-fan3.14...The Denmark's Copenhagen Mint minted the 5 Aurar 355.000 for 1926 and 311.000 for 1931. The survival rate for the 1926 in unc is not that high as for the 1931 I have seen 6x or so more unc 1931 5 Aurar then a 1926 5 Aurar. and this is based on what I have seen at auction / Ebay and what I have handled in the past. As far as what has been graded ,,NGC has graded 9 1926 5A and 13 1931 5A... PCGS has only graded one coin from the 5 Aurar Kingdom Era and that was a 1942 5 A in MS-62 RB. The average grade for these graded coins would be around MS-63/64 with only 2 higher for each date and much more below the average grade. The 1940 and 1942 5A was minted by the London Mint after England set up a military base in Iceland in May of 1940 to keep it out of the hands of Nazi Germany. The planchets used by the Copenhagen had all ready turned brown before it was pressed into coins and this is why you will never see a Red or Red/Brown in a 26 or 31. Now in the London mintage of 1940..1 Million / 1942 ..2 Million you will find both Brown's and Red/Brown's ,,,But I have never seen a full Red one yet for either of these dates,,This maybe due in part to the Mint being bombed and other effects of the war. It was recorded that the day they started the production of the Iceland's coinage the roof and the windows was destroyed by resent bombing and maybe as well as both counties have very cold and damp climates that may have turned or oxidized the copper planchets,,We all know how copper react's to moisture. The singular term is 1 Eyrir and it takes 5 Eyrir to make 5 Aurar and then there is a 10 Aurar coin and a 25 Aurar coin and it takes 100 Eyrir's or 20 5 Aurar's to make 1 Krona,,,Something like our 100 Pennies would make a dollar.

Well I hope I didn't bore the heck out of you.

Thank for reading my post and if there is any other thing you would like to ask me about Icelandic coins or mintage please feel free to ask.
