Greetings, I have acquired a new variety of tetradrachm belonging to the Indo Greek king Strato I. the coins were a pair found in a village in Lower Dir, Pakistan. The obverse is the standard for Strato I, but the reverse features a prancing horse with rider similar to what is usual for Philoxenos. An interesting unpublished find as all silver coins of Strato hint to his connection to Menanders lineage by using solely Athena on the reverse. The reverse is also unique from philoxenos with the adition of a bow and case stowed on the horse behind the rider. The obverse: Obverse ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ ΔΙΚΑΙΟΥ ΣΤΡΑΤΩΝΟΣ [transliteration: basileōs sotēros dikaiou stratōnos] Bust of Strato I, diademed and draped right. Reverse: King on prancing horse to right, bow and bow case stowed; monogram on lower right.
