Nah, Lehigh96 got it right. The woman planting seeds is supposed to show the Native American knowledge about crop rotation among other things. And yes, she is planting ... beans maybe. Christian
If you want SACs and presidental go to the post office. Went to get $4.00 worth of stamps, put in a $50 and got a handful of $1 coins. SAC, pres., Susan B's. Now I got to go trade them in for lincoln cents.
If you go to the mint website, you can get them for face value with free shipping now. I have 250 of them coming, not because I'm in love with them. I will do my part to help circulate these. Anyone else doing this yet?
The idea of the planting is because theindians typically had three crops growing in the field at the same time. Gave them more food from the same area and some crops would replenish the soil that the others were depleting (Same result as crop rotation), and the ground cover of the other crops crowded out the weeds. But I don't think they planted the crops that far apart in their growth cycles. You plant the squash when the corn is that high and they will probably be too shaded to germinate and grow properly.
Here's a real deal on the new Sacagaweas! http://ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=270339681532 You can see the flaws on my small monitor screen (check out the rim dings by the "P" mint mark). Imagine the coins in person. Oh by the way, you can purchase these at face with free shipping from the mint right now.
It looks like the gal on the reverse could use some type of support undergarment. She's swinging free...
