Time to flush this dime. The coin came from a factory 5.00 sealed role of all 2014 dimes from my bank. Just a little to hopeful. Thanks
It's no big deal! Many people have made this same mistake. FWIW, the Mint (factory?) does not issue rolls of dimes. Rolls are issued by third parties after the coins enter circulation. Chris
No, a thousand times no. This looks like a "squeeze job". Put a penny and a dime together, wrap them in a rag and put them in a vice grip. Tighten. When you're done, it looks like your coin. It's now known as PMD or Post Mint Damage.
Thanks Mr. Miyagi , and I'm sure I won't be the last. My apologies for getting your hopes up @girldly
@girldly In a PM, I gave you some suggestions about how to treat the opinions of others about the ALTERED JUNK you are posting. You have ignored my suggestions and started your "remarks" about the opinions of members here who know more about coins than you do. As I suggested, some may stop helping you in the future. You can count me as one of them. Good luck with your hobby.
What is it about the human psyche that makes us want to do or repeatedly show faked stuff? I must admit to a complete lack of understanding of the mindset. Yes, you might be able to fool some noobs, but really...
IMO, it is OK if you are seeking advice about authenticity. The problem comes when the person who is asking the question refuses to believe irrefutable evidence.
Not to be a jerk about it, but it might be worse than that. When the same guy brings up new stuff over and over, he MIGHT be the one cranking out this garbage. I'm frankly surprised a Zincoln cent could dig into a dime that much.
I learned how to drive my Dad's '52 Ford 1/2T PU w/3 on the column when I was about 12. I learned on my own with no help. I thought I knew everything about driving....................until I had my first accident when I was 13. Chris
Dude, the fact that you made it that long makes you a legend. I learned in a (I kid you not) 1970 Renault R10 (French). You should have seen the look on the face of the State cop that did my license test. Most of the interior controls were in non-standard locations.
With this piece's OBVIOUS excess diameter due to radical misshaping, I SERIOUSLY doubt it came from any roll of dimes. More likely you know far more about its genesis than you are letting on, no?
I don't comment on other posts since I'm not experienced enough but I enjoy reading them and learning. Although, this is what's keeps me coming back to Cointalk forum, entertainment. Girldly is one interesting character. V. Kurt Bellman, I think what drives people to resort to these shenanigans is attention seeking with a touch of narcissism. - 11BB4
Just go back and check @girldly 's posting history - a steady stream of one bogus error coin after another. I think I sense a budding scamster entrepreneur among us. Look, a WAS born on a Friday, but it wasn't today or last week.
