Before I begin my 'quality over quantity' focus shift this coming New Year, I purchased several coins of the more 'pedestrian' variety(ies). Of course, I find them interesting in a number of ways, while others may not have purchased them at any price and that is one of the joys of collecting as a hobby----we all have our own individual tastes and interests expressed in each and every coin---not to mention that damnable budget constraint we all have in one way or another. LOL Anyway, here's the Trajan duo of a Sestertius minted in Rome and a Antioch bronze AE-19: Sestertius of Trajan 116 AD, Rome mint, 25.76 grams, 35.2 mm Laureated and draped bust right; IMP CAES NER TRAIANO POTIMUS AVG GER DAC P M TRP COS VI P P Felicitas Standing right, caduceus in right, cornucopia in left, SENATUS POPVLVSQVE ROMANVS. S C flanking across field RIC II 672, Cohen II 352, Banti 106 Please post any coin you feel falls into the thread theme. I'll differ from Mat and say I like the first over the second. But both are decent and would be welcome in my collection.
Nice Pickups, Mat (super sweet additions!!) => Ummm, Ragin' Trajan, eh? ... sadly, I still only have these three: ... Tetradrachm, Dupondius and Dichalkon
=> apparently, that is a rhino, my friend (they're quite rare) ... oh, but TIF has one as well (fricken TIF!)
Here is my only coin of Trajan. Hmmm, a Rhino named 'LIZ'??? I think A-C-G might be right, 'LIZ' seems more like a name for a long-nosed pig
Well, apparently that's what Trajan and his boyz called 'em ... rhinozooresuses They called their pigs "ham"
what's not to like here? pretty good legends, nice busts, cool tyche...and i'm a sucker for "syrian red"...nice new coin MZ. here's my trajan to make you feel better, even pedestrianer.
