However, the spelling Witigis may be preferable as it corresponds to Witigis' Name in German sagas Witichis and other Germanic names like Artachis.  [ATTACH=full]1400925[/ATTACH] A Quarter-Siliqua Obv.: DNIVSTI NIANVIIIRev.: Monogram of TheodericMint: RavennaDate: 536-540 These coins are often attributed to the reign of Amalasuntha (Theoderic's daughter). However, there can be no doubt that they were minted under Witigis.
