I refuse to buy any single item over $100 from a private seller without doing the transaction in person. Even then I typically will only buy a coin that is certified. I've been buying collectables online for over 10 years now and I have seen some shady stuff. The latest gem was a seller on eBay who would only accept payment by calling an 800# and giving them your credit card number over the phone. That sent up a red flag for me. On a similar note, I have been looking into investing in Gold Bullion and almost every place I've found in my local area advertising Gold Bullion sales is SUPER shady. One place was run out of the back of a filthy auto parts store. Another place I called had some bizarre answering service that was vague and wouldn't discuss anything with me unless I gave them a job number. Even if these people are legit, having abnormal sales practices makes them seem bogus. I always go with my gut instinct and I would always rather play it safe than sorry. If anyone is looking into buying Bullion, I would highly recommend taking a look at the US Mint's official website. They have a listing of approved sales locations based off of your Zip Code. Anyhow, hopefully you guys make out okay. Best of luck!

That might fall under mail fraud, which is much worse. The post office has their own police force with nothing better to do.

I have to say, I contacted HCSC about the one of the gold coins for my personal collection and didn't end up following through because I was a little "iffy" about the seller. I didn't have anything but a gut feeling. I do hope he is legit and everybody gets what they paid for, so I can eat some humble pie.

Coin Talk already has a self appointed internet policeman, we don't need another.

Sorry, I doubt you will get that tracking. That was just a stall tactic the other day. Why would he sell coins cheaper than any local dealer would pay. I hope I'm wrong, but when things are to good to be true, you know the rest

Google checkout finally replied my emails complaining about wanting a return. This was their message:
    {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Hello Lucas,

Thank you for your patience. After contacting the seller, we received the
    following order update:

"Here's the tracking number. I have sent it to the buyer multiple times!

    USPS First Class - 000400XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

If you have any further questions, please reply to this email.

    Sincerely,

    The Google Wallet Team}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

That usps tracking number has no information at usps.com. doesn;t even say its a valid number, but i guess we'll all see.
Maybe this could be a lesson to us all. Maybe we should have to provide valid ID before we sell anything?

I hope you and everyone else that bought things from HCSC get your stuff. I am worried for you guys, though. If you need any of his info, PM me and I will give you the info I found. Unfortunately it won't ease any of your fears, it'll probably make them grow.

As much as I hate to say it, I agree. When it looks like a duck, smells like a duck, and quacks like a duck.... At the very least this is a case of ridiculously poor customer service, and at worst you already know.

    OP,

It can take time to tracking to appear on the USPS site, so keep checking back. Also, when/if you get a package (as a back-up and just in case), you might want to video tape opening it.

    Oh... definitely.

    Dear Sir,
I have faith in myself and the Lord, all others holding my money are suspect.

I hope everything comes out positive FOR EVERYONE with this entire situation, but you're holding thousands of dollars with a perfect background story of "a baby on the way---need money fast". Holding thousands of dollars while not responding to emails except those that will get you more money is shady at best!

After doing a little searching on my own, I have my doubts about this guy. The only references I can find online to "King Numismatics Melbourne Florida" point to posts within Cointalk. I suspect this is the only place that "King Numismatics" exists.

I don't think it would be unreasonable for everyone who has purchased something from HCSC to demand his physical address, a valid telephone number and the ID numbers for every one of the credentials he has listed in his posts (ANA, ICTA, NDRB, NGC, PCGS, Coneca, SSDC). Any reputable dealer would provide that information in an instant to defend that reputation. If he fails to deliver such confirmable information, I would take immediate steps to recover my money and initiate postal fraud investigations.
