:) At least I hope our resident $2.50 gold master @jwitten doesn't have this date yet....or else I'd have to change the title!
Yes indeed, I went to the Long Beach coin expo a few days ago and had a great time perusing the bourse floor. This was my 4th time attending, but it was far and away the best! Spent lots of time ogling the cases full of millions of dollars in gold & rare treasures, talking to all the dealers & familiar faces....and of course getting a couple new additions. I went with a friend (our mailman in fact!) who wanted to get some opinions on the conservation of his 3-legged Buff as well as submit some beauties to PCGS. The quantity of QUALITY bargains was very surprising, I spotted a bunch of good deals on PQ coins...so if anyone is apprehensive of going to big shows because you suspect the coins will be overpriced, just go, you'll be glad you did! Regrettably however, I went with a set budget of $400....which you can burn out in about 5 minutes. Bought this piece though....from ANA President, Jeff Garrett (name drop) :p
1894 Gold $2.50, NGC AU-58 with slight prooflike fields! The mintage was only 4,000 and of that, only an estimated 800 still exist!

Also picked up a 1932 Washington in a PCI MS-63 slab, which now resides in my type set... and some Verdi-Care to round out the $400 budget.

Does jwitten own any 1860s S mint QEs?

I looked through my records, and it looks like I had one last year, but sold it already. This is as close (date wise) as I come right now...

Well, darn...I was pretty sure this date was scarce enough, but you've had it too :) Good show! Actually the 1893 is an absolute stunner, congrats on owning that one!
I took the photos...was going to post it in the new acquisitions thread, but wanted to say how nice the show was too.

Planning on getting one soon and claiming this same title. By the way, got an 1892?

Nope. I mainly collect the Indians. I have a few Liberties, but mostly just if they are toned, in an old holder, etc.
