Did anyone else notice that the page of coins that got 19 out of 20 coins approved for stickers were all NGC and the page that passed only 7 out of 20 were all PCGS coins?
It seems to me that NGC's older holders have a lot more Gold CAC stickers than older PCGS holders? I have a few.
I know someone is going to come along and argue with me about this theory but I do believe more often than not that ngc conservatively grades. A lot of crossovers i see, NOT ALL (to whoever wants to argue) the ngc graded come one point below pcgs. If the coin is struck nicely a conservatively graded coin would bean before one that was pushed up to the next level.
Hi Vertigo, I agree completely. There have been multiple times that I have had NGC knock a grade down from a MS64 to a MS63 only to have me send it to CAC, get it stickered and then have PCGS cross it to a MS64 or higher? It gets expensive and frustrating when you have a lot of ANACS coins and no options but to send them to PCGS if you want to protect yourself on some of the more expensive coins, thanks
I think the best option in today's market is to leave it 63 with the bean. I know not everyone will pay up. But people will pay up for that bean. I would cross a coin down to get the bean if I thought doing so would earn that coin a bean. Sometimes a bump down still won't earn the bean if the coin has a poor or weak strike. Another thing is, you'll see a f15 grade, f15 obverse. And a vf reverse. It won't bean if the obverse and reverse aren't both solid for the grade on the slab. And honestly I use pcgs. I like their holders. I like their truview imaging. I do like old fatty ngc but you can't get those holders now. I also like rattlers. I like rattlers more though lol.
