I was wondering if anybody on here has seen either of the two rounds? The first one says "Hoffman and Hoffman" with a unicorn on the front, and marked "one ounce, fine silver, .999+ 1981 on the reverse. The other round has nothing on the reverse. Is there anyone who knows roughly how rare the Coca Cola bar from the Youngstown plant is? I know it`s not common, but other than that Idk how much more above spot this might sell for. I might be interested in trading it for other older bars as well. :smile random silver 008.jpg

1970 Silver Art Silver Art Bar Collector

The Coca-Cola - Youngstown silver art bar is a very rare silver art bar. It is so rare, that I rarely see it on ebay and that is saying a lot. It was minted in 1981 by the World Wide Mint. That is a super awesome find. That is one of the rarest (if not the rarest), Coca-Cola silver art bars of all the Coca-Cola silver art bars that were minted.

According to Thomas A. Mock's second edition guidebook called "Coca Cola Bottler's 75th Anniversary Ingot and Round Guide Book 1975-1988" (Image #110 in the guidebook), The mintage number is unknown for these but the guidebook says that there might have probably been less than 200 of these Youngstown bars minted. The guidebook further mentions that these Coca-Cola-Youngstown silver art bars were given to the employees at their 75th anniversary dinner and there were less than 200 employees back in 1981, their Youngstown Coca-Cola bottler's 75th anniversary year. The highest serial number seen, according to the Coca-Cola guidebook, for this bar is 00190. The serial number for this Coca-Cola bar is located on the side of the bar. The guide book puts the value at $1200.00, however, most of the time, silver art bars are not going to sell at guide book price. Since this Coca-Cola-Youngstown, is a very hard-to-find Coca-Cola ingot, then this might be the exception.

If and only If you decide to sell this Coca-Cola bar, then it is a no-brainer to sell it on ebay. As mentioned above, this is one of the rarest Coca-Cola bars in existence and you do not find these on ebay on a regular basis. Personally for me, I have seen only one of these Coca-Cola-Youngstown bars on ebay and it had a BIN price of $1200 on it but I think that it took a very long while for it to move. However, if and only if you decide to sell it at a later date, then you should not use the BIN auction format if you want to move it quickly. In my very honest opinion, I would just use a regular ebay auction format and just let the ebay buyers have bidding wars over this bar. Ebay buyers who are Coca-Cola collectors will go bonkers over this silver art bar and will bid it up to a very high price IMO. In my opinion, you will not be disappointed if you decide to sell this silver art bar on ebay at a later date.

I also want to say that I have never sold anything on ebay but I have been following and studying certain winning bid prices on certain silver art bars and I have been observing certain price actions on a lot of silver art bars. Coca-Cola silver art bars on ebay will always do well on ebay and very rare Coca-Cola bars such as the Youngstown Coca-Cola bar that you have will do even better on ebay.

As for the silver rounds that you have pictured, I do not know anything about them and I am not able to help you out on them. I am really just a silver art bar collector that likes to collect silver art bars that were minted in the 1970's.

Wow.....I knew I had a winner with that bar when I first found it, (not like this though) and then when the dealer sold it to me for $20. (at the time almost $2 over spot) The # on it is 187. I would not call it uncircilated, but it`s very respectable. Maybe before it goes on ebay I`ll have my local dealer give me His opinion on what He`d grade it. I like to give everyone a chance, so I won`t be doing a "bin." Thank You for the info Silver Art.....I really do appreciate it.

I am glad that I was able to be of some help to you, however, silver art bars are just bullion. Silver art bars are not considered numismatics and therefore will not have a "grade". When you take a silver art bar or any silver bullion bar to sell at a local dealer, the local dealer will only give you spot minus a discount. Since you paid $20 for it, the local dealer might give you between $17 to $19 for it if you decide to sell it back to a dealer. That would be a big mistake. Local dealers will not care about "rarity" values. They only care about silver value.

Ebay is your best bet because ebay buyers will pay a large premium over spot for that Coke bar. I am going to be very conservative when I say that a coke bar like the one you have will easily have a winning bid of $100 on ebay. It will more than likely go for way more than $100 on ebay but I was being super conservative with that $100 winning bid. I would not even bother to take it to another dealer. Sell it on ebay in a regular auction format and let the ebay buyers bid it up. I promise you that you will get a better price for it than any local dealer is willing to pay you for it. You will not be disappointed with the winning bid that you get for that coke bar when you sell it on ebay.

@Silver Art.....Haha....No, I won`t be selling it to any dealer. I meant that I would ask Him what He would consider the bars condition as in relation to numismatics. I just want to be accurate with my description of the bar when I put it on ebay. One of the things I like about most bullion is that one can polish some pieces to get rid of horrible toning, and not kill the value of the piece.

PS- I like Your "heads up" regarding selling the bar to a dealer.....it shows me that people on these forums are somewhat looking out for another.....which is always a good thing. : )

Oops. Sorry. I must have mis read that. Thanks for clearing that up. I would also suggest that you leave the bar the way it is if there is any toning on it. Some collectors like toning on a silver art bar. I would also talk multiple clear pictures of this silver art bar because that will help your auction when bidders start to bid up the price of your coke art bar. I would also offer free shipping since this bar will more than likely bring a large winning bid. The large winning bid will easily cover the shipping as well as the ebay and paypal fees and you will still have a large profit.
