You are correct well if you are looking for a number that is not how I price purchases of common date generic gold. I do however base my offers and purchases on percentage over bullion. Considering that these premiums are fairly high now given various macro economic events of recent. ie asking a buy it now price which is 89% premium over bullion for this coin. Most of which are selling for a 53% premium. Historically these coins have sold very close to the spot price of gold with very little premium with few exceptions as they are more tied to the price of gold than there numismatic value. So, I would have to say that a premium is warranted in this case in which I offered at 20% above spot. I would not expect to pay below spot
I do agree that circumstance should be taken in to consideration. I also believe there should be a different standard applied to an individual or a company in place of Honoring a customer. If a company underprices an item or accepts a lower price for such goods even by mistake they should Honor that price in the faith of good business, where as a person can make a mistake and be helped for that mistake, I do agree at holding a Company to a Higher standard. I do apologize for misjudging your deeds earlier, but from the OP I thought you were dealing with a person. 1 that company should learn to be more careful and 2 they have made you a good, long, and loyal customer by acting Honorably whenst they made an error in your favor, further more I will now congratulate you on a Great Purchase Price Although I do disagree with your ealier comment that it isn't possible to get people to side with you and go against the tide, for I just Did!!! LOL
Thanks for the kind words and the next time your on Ebay, just add them to your favorite sellers list as I do believe they are a step above in today's day and age
Im a little confused , historically sold for close to spot , yet the BIN was 1795 which must be close to double the spot price , a "lowball" offer which mistakenly slipped through. There already is a number 350 , which im left to imagine is not considered a substantial amount. Im not going to get a straight answer i guess. Thanks though , its a wake up call for anybody selling on ebay , often the sellers are vilified. Notably the listing speaks in "We" as in we here at such and such..implys its a business , ultimately that $350 came out of somebodys paycheque.
Look, a BIN price is just that, BIN. You seem to think that beacause it was 1795 that should be what someone pays, what does the BIN price have to do with anything at all. What if it was $1,795,000 does that mean it is worth that, of course not. That is why the seller had make a offer on the listing. You seem to be bent on having some arbitrary number as to what I think is substantial and I am trying to tell you that that number depends upon each situation encoutered and the circumstances at that time. But if it makes you happy to have one then I guess that number would be 0. Yeah, I may have rconsidered if the seller had just decided to give it to me. I hope this satisfies your request and I do not mean to come off in a sarcastic and in a trivial way, but I just don't understand why you think that there has to be a fixed number for each situation is different. As far as your last sentence goes, I would have to agree with the first part. If you are selling on Ebay and are going to pay extra to have make an offer under your BIN price then check the box that automatically declines offers under a certain amount. Respectfully
Well I kind of got the same response as you did when I posted about the same type thing. In my case my dealer listed a coin at one price and I bought it for that. When I bought it I did not realize how under-priced they had it. I went back a week later and asked about it - he said they screwed up. His comment to me was - "Well you will keep coming back as a customer". I have since on a couple of coins asked several times - are you sure about that price? In all cases they say yes - and this is before my discount. You are doing the same thing - and by this thread may have even got them a few more customers. Hats off to the MSP seller - who knows may the next time I am in the twin cities I will have time to visit them. I think no matter which side makes the mistake they should take their lumps and make the deal - no complaining or whining. I have made the mistake of posting an incorrect bid, where it could have cost me hundreds of dollars - at no point did I try to withdraw the bid. Just crossed my toes and hope nobody got ridiculous. Now having said that - I would make allowances for some dealers and some transactions. I have less sympathy when dealing with ebay - I have seen several auctions where the seller skipped the transaction, took the negative, because they were too cheap to pay to set a reserve. Heck - even on DLRC if they accepted one of my offers I would expect them to live up to the deal. And then we get into cherry picking and apply the same type principle. Now I am going to have to run down my local shop Saturday and see what they have them for - last time I remember looking the 63's were 1150. Going to have to check them out - less than a year ago that was what they were selling for(actually earlier this year).
