Yes, both are but(t) coins---coins with issues and flaws, yet both appealed to me at the right price and would give my poor sole Billon Tet of Nero from Antioch a bit of company, while still allowing me to secure a high grade sestertius or denarius sometime during 2016. As this extended auction finally came to an end, both coins grew on me after countless viewings; they both look 'ancient' and have some notable aspects in their favor. The As, though heavily worn and relatively common, has a wonderful toning and is largely well centered with all the key devices clearly visible; The Dupondius, also well centered with legible legends, appears to be a bit 'high relief' and a bit scarce, although the 'encrustations' and a flan crack detract from it more than a little. I suppose, I will 'soak' it a bit and see if the encrustations in the fields can be 'gently' persuaded to leave the premises ;) Dupondius of Nero; Rome mint,; RIC 523 IMP NERO CAESAR AVG P MAX TR P P P Laureate head left, globe at point of neck Victoria advancing left, holding wreath and palm VICTORIA AVGVSTI S C As of Nero, Lyons mint; RIC 533 IMP NERO CAESAR AVG P MAX TR P PP Bare head right Genius standing left holding a patera and a cornucopiae, altar in field GENIO AVGVSTI S C Both imperfect, but nice for a budget 'set' and I love copper and bronze :) Please feel free to indulge yourself and post any coin type of this Emperor or the devices.
