I agree, but what do I know, I've had a subscription for the proof good spouse coins from the beginning. I'm going down with the ship, but at least I never paid a premium on the early coins when the feeding frenzy was on. I guess I would have a different mindset if I were a dealer.
That was another flipping story which demanded some changes at the Mint. When the Washington and Adams First Spouse coins were released, they sold out within hours as so many folks had been waiting for the coins. Flip prices were astronomical and the coins hadn't always been on the subscription program. It's really good to hear that you'll stick with these to the end since, given the current flipping and profit raking environment, its nice to know that there are some true collectors still out there!
Free market capitalism at it's finest! I thought it was interesting that people waited on line all night This is work and it deserves it's reward. God Bless America!
Originally the Washington first spouses WERE on the subscription program. They were pulled when the major dealers subscribed to the entire mintage before they ever went on sale. The Mint canceled the subscriptions and pulled the First spouse coins from the program. After the first few when the minages started falling they were put back on.
I thought I had a subscription way back when, but wasn't positive. I received my coins a few days after the release and prices had already doubled or better by then. Today you can get PR-70s for just above melt. I kind of like the program, but wish that they did it in reverse order. Give the presidents the gold, and the First Ladies the circulating dollars. How cool would it have been to get a draped bust in your change?
Just found out. The recorders that nixon was using. Before. Watergate. Jfk is the one that pit them there
