Here is my 1916-S and 1938-D. Obviously both well circulated. But they look better than the scans appear.
AdamL, I like their nice, original look. And that is a very attractive 17-s obv, WalkingD, I know how hard those are to find in a nice, midgrade condition. Welcome to the Forum!
Thanks. I like the look of these too. But, welcome to the forum? I've been here a while, lol. Thats alright though. Thanks for the warm welcome
Sorry, that was kind of a runon post! I noticed WalkingD had 2 posts credited, so I thought I should say howdy! and Welcome! Congrats on topping 3,000 posts, AdamL!
1942 S Walking Liberty Half Dollar @WalkingD & @ksparrow Your '21 and that 17-S are really nice, great shots! Here's another one of mine that I really like, a '42-S
These coins were workhorses of commerce and worth a lot in terms of goods in their day (look at some of Walker Evans' photos of the Bowery in the 1930's-- full meals for 10 cents!) and for me command some respect even when extremely worn. The design holds its own even when virtually flat-- I can't say that for a Barber! Walking D, that 1919 you posted above is a DREAM coin , just gorgeous! Here's one a bit more humble: (sorry, photobucket was supposed to resize these when I uploaded, didn't mean to hit you over the head with personal pizza sized images!!)
Well, I think it's AU! notice the detail and the patina-- I can tell it's never been cleaned. i wonder if it's the scarce folding variety? Sometimes people "improve" them by putting tennis balls on the legs-- a travesty!!!
Very funny now what is a walker used for ? The walker was graded at AU58. there was some wear on the low points of the wheels. Joe:goofer:
