Is this just normal damage? The 99 just looked like someone soldered it at first but it looks like it could be an error as well. The 62 I’m not really sure about no theories.

It's not normal damage, it's worse then normal damage. Worth 10 cents, spend them.

Feel like first one was chucked into a lawnmower or something, still 10 cents though!

Well, think about that for one second. What would constitute “normal” damage? One of your nickels spent some time in the street. The other is just a very worn and hard working nickel. Welcome to the wide, wide world of coin collecting!

One took on a parking lot and lost. The other was lost in the ground and took on environmental damage. They look suspicious...but quite spendable. Keep trading them for other nickels...you'll eventually get yourself a keeper. Good luck!!

The Dark color Nickel is Environmental Damage
Here are examples from my metal detected finds
Top are darker because of exposure to the elements. Bottom row are normal.

Your first Nickel is just circulation wear and tear.

The first nickel is worse than normal circulation wear and it's just plain damaged. The second one is environmentally damaged.
