My adrenaline really started pumping when I saw this relatively modest bronze at auction. Some of you may know I discussed this exact variety in my recent KOINON essay. Sure, the obverse was scratched a bit and as a general type these are very common--but the varieties featuring Acheloios are not, and this is easily the second nicest example known. I put in a bid of 250 EUR assuming no one would come close--but it sold for precisely that amount (coincidence?). The seller might have felt bad that I "overpaid" because he included another nice bronze (different variety) in about the same condition as a bonus. I'm glad I didn't put in 500 EUR, which I would pay for this piece.

Please post any coins you happily "overpaid" for.
