Any dealer I know would ask for some type of description. If he/she just assumed that they were Ikes that would make he/she an even bigger idiot than the lady in question.

I'm sorry everyone but this looks more and more like an ebay "I was walking through the woods and tripped over a crate of Pristine RARE Morgan dollars" story.

Until I see SOLID proof this just plain did NOT happen.

What a moron. "Thanks, but I'd rather have a $1000 than $10,000." :goofer:

That is worth repeating, again and again and again until it sinks in!

I agree with this. Especially since another thread had a similar post today from the same user. Really, I don't know what would motivate someone to troll the board with stuff like this, but you can guarantee that its a fabricated story.

It almost seems like a robot is posting the message and the response. This might be a test of the security of cointalk, in preparation of a spamming of the board.

    It really happened.

    In the Twilight Zone.

In old legends, witches were paid in silver.

    Maybe...

I think I already explained what is the problem. It also smacks of a con. It feeds on sympathies.

It might not be that she assumed they were IKES but rather the dealer assuming they were IKES. If someone called you and said they had over a $1,000 in silver dollars, but couldn't describe them or answer your questions, would you assume they were morgans, or IKES.

Oh, and it was Silver Eagles in the woods, not Morgans. Just as good though as they were 96's.

PS. I don't believe the story either, I"m just saying it could happen.

Hope I didn't offend you Gatzdon but that was kind of my point.

If the DEALER assumed they were Ikes then that person would be an idiot IMHO.

I'd tell her to bring them in - maybe just a few to see what they were.

You know, whether or not it actually happened really doesn't matter. I'm simply telling all of you what I was told by the Commercial Teller. There's really nothing more to be said except that I believe her. She was a new teller and had never heard of a "Morgan Dollar" until another person at the bank told her.

For those of you who think this is some sort of scam, con or whatever... well, that's simply not true. I'm just passing along a story I heard. Please don't get your leotards in a knot.

No offense CoinOKC but now that I've unknotted my skivvies (breathing easier now), you posted the thread and you got a lot of repsonses.

I never said I doubted what you were told I just don't think it's true. Seems a lot of us feel this way and repsonded in kind with opinions, theories and at times biting sarcasm.

This being said can I ask - did this story she told you start with
