A challenging one to figure out...

    A few subtle clues are there... uncommon, but not super-rare in Canadian 1-cent strikes. You can even decipher the date with this one...

    if the other side is normal I would say capped die strike....

    It is a very late stage counter-brockage. The details are not in mirror image, and are spread very wide (not quite in a linear fashion) and the cap was so thin that the normal reverse ghost can be seen.

    Look again at the original post and image, and then key your eye in on these details. The '0' from the date is clear - this is a 1980 cent.

    Here is a stretched (linear) overlay, which is almost a perfect match to the details annotated above.
