This silver Groat was issued during Henry VIII's Second Coinage of AD 1526-1544 at the Tower Mint. The coin is 26mm in diameter and appears virtually as struck with light toning and much mint luster remaining. I plan to send it off to a TPG pretty soon, all of my Medieval coins are graded.
Nice, I got one too, but in worse shape but a decent portrait. Will share it in time. Congrats on the 1000
Great Coin. Anyone farmiliar with the British Comedy Blackadder and collects coins wants a groat- that’s a nice one.
Very nice coin Aethelred, it's a real attractive one. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the 2nd coinage groats still had a high silver content and were minted before the great debasement towards the end of Henry's reign.
@Severus Alexander I really like those later Henry portraits, you can almost see him holding a big turkey leg.
Fantastic job with your 1000th post @Aethelred ! I’ve always enjoyed your contributions and am looking forward to many more! I regret I no longer am close by, as I would have been to your shop several times by now!
