For the record - it IS considered name calling here. So stop doing it.

Oh boy I see what is happening. Well I also read the rules on sign up and it said that if a word couldn't be said on a tv show back in the 1950s than you probably shouldn't do it on here. Well guess what! Half the series of Leave it to Beaver was filmed in the 1950s and I hear Wally call "the Beaver" a goof all the time! So take that y'all. You all are getting hard over nothing. Pleaseeeeee just relax.

Apparently NOS you do not see what is happening. You are being instructed to obey the Forum rules. Name calling is against them - and that does not just include swear words & cuss words. That includes names like - jerk, idiot, stupid, goof etc etc etc.

You, just like everyone else, are entitled to your opinion and you may post it. But name calling will not be tolerated - period.

Lordy Lordy. I personally would not consider the word "goof" name calling but since you are a moderator I will obey thine command. Whatever floats your boat.

Anything other than a person's name, is name-calling, dear (even that!). There are no Internet Rules. Every site's house rules are pretty much "take it or leave it," as they should be.

If you speak to people you barely know face-to-face as you do in forums, some goof is gonna deck you, and you'll have it coming. :(

You know I've got two pennies like yours and think it happened in the mint(s?) based on my gut instinct rather than any knowledge of coins. Still, I'd be interested in knowing the name of "this guy," and what site he's affiliated with. It can't hurt to check him out (credentials) along with his opinions. :)

    Good decision.

Deck shmeck. You just gotta know the type of person of which you are conversing with. I will post what he said but since none of you people have faith in him or the guy I brought it to a year ago I do not think I am going to say his name. You all are much too skeptical anyways so I do not believe it would matter any. I'm sorry you switched sides on me Dvine...

You keep saying you will post what he said, but you don't do it. There is no reason for anyone to have faith in your resources, as you present them. You haven't provided information; you refer to what you were told without being specific and then get upset because everybody isn't telling you you're right. How OLD are you, anyhow?
I'm sorry you see this as a situation with sides. I thought everyone was curious about the truth.

I am getting upset because no one here is much believing me when 2 very knowledgeable coin people have looked at it, one of which was in person! Okay fine in 5 minutes I will post what he has said to me. I doubt it will matter much as I'm sure his credibility will be brought up. I find my age to be quite irrelevant here with what I have just said to justify my frustrations.

Okay here is the 1st response he sent back to me...

Then I asked a question or two and gave him the link to this thread and he had quite clearly read the posts here:
This guy just like the guy from my local coin store is for real and he even has a very professional online store web site.

Sounds similar to what mikediamond posted. My curiosity about my two pennies is pretty well satisfied. They're not going anywhere, in any case.

It may not be at your junior high school, but adults do consider it impolite.
That demonstration would be a good way to get yourself banned from the forum.
Putting that together with your earlier comment about his having dealt with errors three times your age explains a lot about why you are acting like a spoiled child.

Bottom line - learn to accept disagreement without taking it as a personal affornt, and stop attacking anyone whose opinions differ from yours. Have your parents seen your last several postings?

didnt read all the posts about the 99D but it is not damage inflicted by man as GDJMSP said. I found this coin in a roll from the bank a year ago and I brought it to someone at the coin shop who is very knowledgeable about pennies and he had a term for the error and everything. I think he said it has to do with the planchet being too thin in that area or I think he said something about the pressure from the die...I shoulda written what he said on the holder. The good news is that he said it is in the $4 rangeThe

The "weakness" is in the same area because it IS on the die, and
    not on the blank planchet.......

The grease doesn't "build up", it just lands there, and eventually
dissapaits (spelling wrong).........from the striking pressure........

Seems that your very knowledgeable coin shop person and your online error specialist do not agree on the cause ?

satootoko you sir are very presumptuous and if you werent a moderator I'd let you know a little bit about how I am feeling about you right now. Besides you're trying to give me some talking to but you obviously do not know I was already given one by someone with more etiquette and social skills. Or perhaps you are trying to enrage me to lash out at you to justify banning me but it will not work as I will not debase myself to that level if that is your intent. I believe you owe me an apology please.

    This penny's surface chipped somehow!

This is the obverse of the same coin as at the start of this thread. Apparently its surface coating is thin.

It was in a small metal box with some other loose coins temporarily, but the box wasn't dropped or shaken up. The dark area on the face looks completely black when held in-hand, and is due to something gone rather than [dirt] added. SO...this is what it looks like now.

That is much too bad. Perhaps you could whipe it with your shirt.
