Hello to those who like things conjoined with coins. In this case, it looks like coin-joined. I have been cleaning up my dear old dads years of accumulation of stuff. This one piece of "stuff" I discovered is a money clip with a REPUBLICAN DEL SALVADOR 900 CAM 1892 displayed with it. Stamped inside the clip is ELSALVADOR 900. The stamp tends to suspect that this was made by a professional..? Silversmith..? An old procurer of novelty junk to tourists another millennia ago? Maybe once a present from a niño to his papá? Would it be worth more money with some money in the clip itself... (...I bet some one chuckled)
You might get more info from the "South American eBay," found at www.mercadolibre.com checking for similar listings or sales. To search, you would need to know the formal translation (into Spanish) of "money clip," and also any colloquial translation(s). My little bit of Spanish doesn't go that far. Every Spanish-speaking country down there has its own slang and oddball names for things, in the same sense that English and Americans do (gasoline=petrol, sausages=bangers). Yes, someone from Uruguay can converse quite well with someone from Honduras, but there will be little gaps of comprehension.
