Anyone familiar with a 1983 D quarter that weighs 5.3 grams I need help trying to sell it. Can't find any information about it
I know that back in the 70's there were some quarters struck on dime stack. Don't know if that pertains here.
A clad quarter weighs 5.67 grams +/- 0.227 gms, so it could weigh as little as 5.443 gms and still be in spec. Assuming your scale has been calibrated and sits on a level surface, your coin is only approx 0.1 grams light. That isn't enough of a difference to add any premium over face value, but you can save it if you think it's interesting. And if it's been damaged, corroded, or has excessive wear it's a spender
