Just a funny coin related story in the news this morning - and only because there were no serious injuries. Enjoy! (or don't enjoy, but it's a beautiful day - so try!)

    _____
A semi-trailer truck hauling $800,000 worth of dimes crashed Tuesday into a guard rail on an interstate near Las Vegas, spilling thousands of coins on the side of the road.

State troopers established a crime scene so a recovery team could collect the money,
The Nevada Highway Patrol says the truck was heading south on I-15 about 50 miles (80 kilometers) from Las Vegas when it hit a guard rail in the early morning.

KSNV-TV reported Wednesday the truck was hauling the money under a contract with the U.S. Treasury Department when it dumped the load and several bags split open.

The driver and a passenger were taken to a hospital. Their injuries aren't considered life-threatening.

Metal detectors will be searching that area for years. They won't be able to find all of them.

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

Yeah, all those slot-machine nicked up clad dimes. Yummy. The sun poisoning and potential snake encounters make it not worth doing.

The Dimes on the bottom of the spill will now have road rash.. In a couple of weeks we will see threads asking "What kind of error is this and how much is it worth?" :hilarious:

Probably cost you more to get there than you would recover. The report does not say 8m dimes. It says several bags split open.

it says 800,000k worth of dimes, you can do the math from there

Doesn't take math. All it takes is simple arithmetic.

"when it dumped the load and several bags split open" does not mean all of them. It means SOME of them, which is considerably less than 8 million of them.

No, that would've been "80 million cents worth of dimes"...

Right, just because the truck had 8 million dimes doesn't mean they all spilled. So will these command a premium someday because they are tied to an event :troll::troll:

I'm just glad it happened in Vegas, seems fitting.
We need a coin roll hunter to estimate the quantity of coins that spilled from the truck ASAP. ...apparently, it is very important..
