I recently dusted off my collection of Ikes and I took another look at some of my 72's after seeing some info on another thread. Thanks to some great collectors for providing me with more info on the 72 varities! These three coins would fall under the category 3 varieties, but my question is-are these differences (and seemingly "extra" islands) from die detioration, hub doubling, or what (read:help please! )? The raised outlines on the west coastline are extremely high and deeply carved in, as is Florida. The differences in location of the islands, coast outlines, and raised areas vary greatly. The coloring on these coins is actually a nice bright silver, so I apologize for the color but it was my first time using my new camera to photograph coins this closely and I was in a hurry to get them posted. I have nice pics of the entire reverse (obverse also) for each one too. I'm also interested in any info on varieties for the 71, 71D, 74D, 72D, 76's, 76D, 78, and 78D. I know about the silver varieties and peg legs, but that is about the extent of what I have researched as my Ikes had been in storage for so long that I didn't think I had them anymore. Imagine my surprise and joy when we found my 36 Ikes this Sunday !! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
