'65 and '69 quarters

Confused

What makes these the only two worth saving? Just because they're old???

 

They are not worth anything other than to myself. And not the only ones I save..

 

Cool beans if it makes YOU happy.

Agreed, but the neurotic urge to certify any coin one finds in circulation was duly noted by paddyman on page 1 of this thread. I had two coins certified earlier this year just so I could say I had it done.

 

Nice for circulation coins but definitely not worth the cost of grading. Welcome to CT.

 

Welcome to the neighborhood Jason. As you read more posts here and do some research on your own, you will come to appreciate the help many long time and experienced members have to give. We all started someplace and I encourage you to hang in there and learn as you go. Self grading a coin and then taking it down a notch, is how I deal with coins and currency. I've never paid a TPG to slab a coin and probably never will. If you are into coin collecting to "get rich" you're better off playing the stock market IMHO.

 

I know but maybe we can get a few hooked on the hobby. I need someone to buy all the crap, I have laying around.

I 100% believe that to be the case.

 

I search a lot of quarters and haven't seen a '69-D in circulation in that grade in 30 years. It's been 20 years since I've seen a '65 as good.

The '69-D could be Unc from the photo but I'd guess AU+. If it's Unc it won't go over MS-65 so it's not worth the cost. The '65 is a very nice AU. It also isn't worth the cost of grading.

They're great coins with which to start a set though.
