It was minted in the year 1964, as indicated by the date. The D on the reverse shows it was minted in Denver. Colorado.
...it appears to be AU58 or so...lists @NGC for $2.75. As of 06Jul19, melt value is $1.09, but it is worth more than melt (imho)...Spark
Classic example of condition overstating value. 1964 was a very common year. If you need one, its easily and cheaply acquired, in high grade. All it has is silver value. And if you actually took it to a dealer, you would probably get 50 cents for it. Less than the gas burned.
@littlehugger ...I think the coin retains intrinsic numismatic value, so I both agree with your reasoning and disagree also. I understand being realistic and pragmatic when buying and selling. I have taken coins and other collectibles to LCS/dealers and been taken to the cleaners when I didn't know any better...now I do. So, I won't take anything to a dealer to sell, unless I am willing to lose 50% of its' value. However, I don't want LCSs to vanish, so I still do business with them...as long as they stay reasonable...Spark
Very true! I have only one LCS near me. About 20 minutes away. I went there for decades but he ripped me off in a big way. My experiences with them, online or real time, has been very bad.
