This is a Jefferson from my toner box. This one I pulled from a mint set about 15 years back. The plastic was degraded a bit in the mint set , it seems to of helped the color development. The coin has been in a snaplock type holder a decade and is very stable. Typical terrible strike for the early 60's and no signs of many steps but the color makes it a keeper in my book.
1962 appeared to be a terrible year for mint cello. I've had a couple of 1962 proof sets where the cello had separated exposing the coins. Yucky Yucky.
The nickels of the early 60's mostly 60-62 did tone pastel like colors. I always use the term" candy cotton" colors. I'm not sure if it was the plastic or alloy of the coins during that time frame. I do have several that the colors are really pretty toners.
