62 Days of Large Cents

    I don't think it is a clipped planchet. I just think someone clipped it a very long time ago.

    Somehow I ended up with two examples of the 1855....

    First, a very lustrous and original-looking brown example. If memory serves, I got this coin from Mark Feld. It was graded by PCGS 65 BN (CAC).

    Second, a nice RB example. Believe it or not, PCGS graded the coin graded 63RB. I might argue it's one point higher, but the spots on the obverse are likely the limiting factor. It also has an area struck through what looks like grease on the reverse.

    If got a few 1856s. None are particularly high grade. Here's a raw "upright 5"(N-9)

    Here's another raw example, this time showing the "slanted 5" (N-14):

    And the last of the series, here's a coin I no longer own, a large date that PCGS graded MS 64 RB:

    I'm about to receive a 1797, but I don't want to post pics until I actually commit to the purchase.

    First new large cent for me in quite some time....
