That’s one way to see it all in one shot lol

Missing slots are 84cc in a GSA box and 93s.

Found the cleaned area in the 78 8TF. Completely invisible to the naked eye. But with the right light, and the right angle.... damn right in front of her chin. What a shame.

Same exact story on the 78 7tf. This one was even harder to find and get a pic of. Those are the only spots on both coins. Double damn.

But I am sticking to my story on the:
86 reverse rim damage. It’s so minuscule.

90s scratch. I mean... maybe. Looks like a little longer than normal hit. Certainly no deeper than normal stuff.

02 O. Just cant see anything. There are no hairlines anywhere. Cartwheel rotates normally. Nice bone skin. Maybe some sort of dip or chemical cleaning?? Owell, one of cheapest ones to replace in the entire series.

That coin looks hinky in those photos. I can’t see hairlines but it looks completely washed out.

Yeah. Looks overdipped to me too. Makes the luster look unnnatural and dead

I was hoping to hear from someone on this thread. His name skips me at the moment, but he might have some insider info on these.... :p:D:eek::rolleyes::oops:o_O

Nah, he doesn’t have to and I certainly didnt ask him to. I have no idea if he even saw any. I am overall very happy with the experience and 2/3rds of them had the same grade (within 1) of my notes.

I’ve looked at some of these so many times, over so many years that I feel like I have every detail memorized. And yet, I missed so much on some of them. That lesson/experience is invaluable.

3 of the 5 that I originally “challenged” have been answered and ICG was correct.

The last two are somewhat subjective:
    1) how large does a rim nick need to be so that is considered a damaged/detailed coin?
    2) how big of scratch determines when it gets a detailed/scratch?

Here is the rim damage again. With lights/pics to maximize. Really not a big deal in the end... just kinda interesting.

That's a pretty big gouge especially if pic three details it correctly. More than enough to details it in my opinion. But I am more of a technical grader.

Well, if it’s there under the “right angle/light” then it’s still there. Even though it almost disappears from another angle. I really appreciate your input.

Could it be a combination of the rim ding and the scratch under "WE"? Individually, they may not be bad enough to body-bag, but combined...?

Ha, interesting point. So back to my question #2. Is that a scratch... or just regular “hit”?

  17. Beefer518

Looks more like a scratch to me. Doesn't have the 'normal' shape of a hit (from another coin) to me.

Well, I told myself I wasnt going to replace the “rim damaged” 86. Then I loosened that to, “well, let me just snoop around and maybe if something interesting catches my eye”.

I ended up winning this auction last night. I just barely missed being able to post in the under $50 thread. I am a sucker for clashes. I’ve always wanted one of these older PCGS holders. And sure does look better than 63 based on those pics.

(Although... I do see a rim ding at the same position lol)

Cant wait to see her in person:
