"found" as in bought by the lb and found while searching. I guess it knew to stay in nice shape too, while floating among junk

I believe you jookey....well I suppose I have to because I was there. I almost passed out, then I gagged a couple times, then I took off running and screaming. When my buddy asked what was going on, I couldn't answer him I could only scream. I spent the rest of the day wondering if I am going to wake up and come to find it was only dream. But it was a dream come true.

    Respectfully,

And, we're supposed to believe you, too? Who are you? That's the problem with the internet. There are just as many frauds as there are genuine people, and they all look alike.

Look, my time is more valuable than trying to convince some virtual know it all what I found or didn't find. You all treat people who happen to "win a small piece of the collecting lottery" a fraud and liar. Right Chris, like my favorite thing to do is go on coin forums and make up stories so people think I'm cool. I knew this was a waste of my time. Back to the real world, glad I only wasted 30 minutes of my life here.

I have no real reason to doubt your story, but I do doubt the probability the coin is genuine. There are too many excellent forgeries, I have handled 2 in my small podunk border town from bullion dealers, and they didn't have the identifying characteristics on the reverse. They were confirmed as not genuine by TPG. Here on the forum there are many tales of fortune, that turn out not to be. Use the internet to look up the diagnostics ( need a magnifier). Hopefully when you get it graded as genuine, you will come back and show again, and you will get sincere congratulations from many members.

Hey @BeArJaWjAcK, trust me. I for one, would love to know that someone found this coin! What a great find and story it would be. The name of the game here is numismatic history and documentation. Trust but verify my friend. Show me that coin in a slab with an updated top pop report or slab serial number then we'll take. You or your friend will be blown away by the kudos he receives here on that find!

Thanks guys, so as far as the die cracks go, the crack above the (E R), the three cracks on the C in cent, the 2 cracks on the left side of the T in cent, the doubled looking eyelid all seen to be present. Would you all recommend PCGS for grading service? Never sent one in before. Thanks.

    Respectfully,

@BeArJaWjAcK Please post a close up of the "CE" in "Cent" and the "T" also. Turn the coin in the light so the top of the revers is at 3 o'clock and at 9 o'clock and perhaps we can authenticate it for you.

PS I'm unaware of any genuine 1955/55 with these die breaks. If this coin is genuine (I seriously doubt it right now) you'll have an EXTREMELY VALUABLE coin to a specialist!

If it is not genuine, it's still worth $50 to this specialist as it is a better than average fake.

Any particular reason that you chose the OP's coin as your avatar?

    Just curious.

I have not been on line long today. I do have to say that after reading some comments on this sight i felt a need to write this message. What is the problem with some group members not having either the time or the basic moral etiquette when responding to a post by a fellow collector (human)? By this i mean if someone posts something, who are anyone of us to instantly knock, shoot a condescending remark, or flat out accuse them of being full of edited: symbols in disallowed words.
I do not post often on the multitude of groups i belong to unless i fell i have something positive to add or inform. However i do follow and read a great deal[IMG] every day. I love the feeling of reading about a post and guys chime in on funny things or related stories even buddy banter between friends. the only thing that turns me away are the no hard fact based posts that are negative or downright offensive towards any member of a group. I find it does seem to follow in the way a insecure person would boast about what they have while belittling others.
Of course in a group forum you will always have the wise ass or bully type person. it is just when you notice these types of no help , non-informative posts by multi members or spread through different discussions in the same group. This is not to preach (cuz who the hell am i ) but voice a honest opinion from a different view.
As i said before i do not often post unless i fell like i do have a important point to add. i also greatly appreciate all of the time and knowledge my fellow coin lovers give. it has been invaluable to me in my pursuit of numismatics.
If you read this post I would appreciate your opinions or thoughts on this topic. Do you feel as it is O.K. to shoot down someones story just due to the fact that it is a amazing story. This without having any other reason to call the individuals integrity into play.

I only post as a :troll:. Hope that lightens things up a bit. I agree with you. I'm not interested in anyone commenting on the way I post. STICK TO THE SUBJECT.

Brett, PCGS would be appropriate. Best of luck.

Erik, as long as opinions do not involve religion, politics, world events and do not violate the rest of the rules, dissenting ( positive and negative ) opinions are tolerated. Individually, people form their own opinion from experience and knowledge. I wish I could say that most major discoveries members present, turn out to be so...but some have. We did point out that there was characteristics for verifying, but they need much better photos than presented. No one could verify those due to size. I am sure it would be easier to find someone with a nice camera to take photos of the lines seen by the owner of the coin, than send it to PCGS for certification which is expensive in case it isn't real.

In the 11+ years I've spent on coin forums, topics like this have come up more than you think where the coin is either questionable or comes up in a questionable story. Oftentimes, the photos are "borrowed" or the story behind the coin is fabricated. Ninety-nine times out of one hundred, we never hear back from the person making the claim.

Forgive me for being skeptical, but I've gotten used to it.
