Interesting box. Little bit low on the early Jeffersons but got some nice colorful toners. Unfortunately the camera wont pick it up. Couple nice errors and a silver to end it.

    1-Foreign 1983 Canada
5-Toners lots of green red and pink colors on all of them
    1-Silver 1943S
    3-AU/BU 1980D,1986D,and a 1964 Philadelphia
    8-2009D

Putting the entire cumulative list in every post is annoying, and it takes too long to scroll through everything. Just put up the good finds and maybe a master list once a month.

Appreciate the feed back. I will consider it. Thanks

Maybe attach a file with the details and the highlights in the update. The formatting gets fouled up when cutting and pasting organized tables.

So with the feedback I figured what I will do is post my boxes and the results daily like I have and will post the master list updated every Saturday just once. Once a month is pushing it out to far for those interested in the updated list and for myself. But I figured posting the updated list once a week instead of everyday should make things easier for everyone when scrolling through :)

Always open to constructive feedback. Just want everyone to enjoy my thread.

Little bit low on the finds on this box. Nice foreign and a Philadelphia 2009 which I rarely come by. Been working with the lighting to try and capture the color of these toned ones. The poor 53s is chewed up on the date but I can't complain.

So I figured I'd post a box as a test run. This is how I plan on doing it now. Short description and the finds and photos. I will post the master list every Saturday for the ones that also want to track the progress of this experiment :)

Wow what a box! A really nice early buffalo and a nice solid grade die clash! And of course can't get mad at two silvers as well!

1-Error 1973 Denver Die Clash a very nice example with the Monticello outline on the obverse and Jeffersons head outline on the reverse

    1-Buffalo 1918 Philadelphia
    2-Silvers 1943 Philadelphia and a 1944
    1-1946S
    2-AU/BU 1959D and a 1963 Philadelphia
    1-2009 Philadelphia
    5-2009D
    7-Common 40s
    12-Common 50s

Nice clash. Not sure if it’s listed at maddieclashes but BJ may want to see pictures otherwise. Nice clean coin for photos.

It's fun searching nickels. Nobody collects them now and the young people think that buffalos and v-nicks are worthless foreign money.

Still, your numbers of the good stuff seem 'too good to be true.' One silver nickel per box in 2019 is like winning the lottery $5 prize every time your play.

It took me about the equivalence of 50 boxes just to find one 1951S. I bought one recently in average UNC for $2. Another date/mm that was hoarded back in the day. Inflation in the US has killed the coin collecting field.

There's no way that I could replicate those numbers in my area. Less than 1 silver nickel in every 2 boxes, on average... sigh.

Here in the northeast my mix is a little different being closer to Philadelphia but commensurate. The 2009D to 2009P is a lot different than mine. I would expect a similar reverse phenomenon. But one silver per box is about my norm and 1 Buffalo per box and a half. That ratio is about right so far here. It is a matter of location. Finding varieties with some regularity depends on release points. CRH enthusiasts in Florida do well because of cashed in collections by surviving spouses or families. We get more Canadian money in the NE but it makes for some different but enjoyable collecting.

Have you ever thought about asking someone from a different part of the country who happened to be heading down to S.A. to bring you a box or 10?

That would be interesting to compare a set of boxes from the midwest/northeast/southeast to your numbers.

I’ve thought about that too. Mailing a brick doesn’t make sense but hauling it could work. Also, making connections with other likeminded enthusiasts helps. Having a west coast or east coast colleague helps with the collection. Usually at modest postage costs...and fun.

Seeing a post from Kevin M is disorienting.

Appreciate the love. Yeah here in San Antonio without a doubt yields some awesome finds. But as you can see in the thread I also go through a lot of boxes and some of those boxes dont put out as well as I would like them to. Like stated above it is all about location.

I agree 100%. I remember in 2009 for some odd reason a lot of 2009s were easily obtained here in San Antonio. Dont know how this happened but I can still find them in pocket change. And yes, I keep every single one. I got nickel boxes full of 2009D and started on a new box. My goal is to own 0.1% of the 2009D population. Comes out to like 46,800 coins! I know I'm crazy :)

That is a really great idea. Never thought about that. We will see as time passes. Or I could PayPal somebody if they want to take the time to ship boxes. But right now we are still in the beginning phase of this experiment and would like to get to know you guys a little better before I start sending money out :)

Decent box all in all. A absolutely obliterated buffalo. A nice die crack from the rim Jefferson and a fishy coin :)

    1-Error 1966 Philadelphia

2-2009D (little low on what i am used to)
