The 42D is a nice specimen so worthy of a flip in my opinion. 41S looks to be small, but do a look up online to study up on the differences. It’s worth the while. I’ve been trying to build a roll of each and the Large S is only about half way there.

I think that the 55 sharp vs the 55 mushy is about the same status. More of the washed out 55 nickels than the sharp. Hard to build a roll of sharp strikes. But it’s not a race...and harder to do since I haven’t CRHed in a few years now. ;-)

Found my first Buffalo tonight in a box from Wells Fargo. Too bad it’s dateless, but I’m still happy as hell! Still have 60 percent of the box left to go through.

A dateless Variety 2. Probably an early teen. Sometimes the ribbon will help you diagnose a dateless 1920's specimen, but the ribbon on your coin indicates it's not from the '20s. You can mix white vinegar with hydrogen peroxide (50/50 mixture) in an empty pill bottle and put the nickel in it for a few minutes until a date/mm appears to see what you have. But doing so will erase any numismatic value. What I did was to create a Pickled Nickel set of the dateless Buffalo I've collected via CRH...I was curious how close I could come to building a full set of Buffalo Nickels. You may be surprised to see what is passing through circulation at this point. I've found dateless 1913 Type 1 and 2 nickels, 1913 D Type 1 and 2 nickels, and many low mintage early dateless/mm nickels. Pretty amazing and fun to do.

Wow thanks for the help guys. When you say “ribbon” are you referring to the hair part?

We are all still learning...no end to it really...so welcome aboard. Learning is a lifelong endeavor. Hopefully you never lose that sense of interest and curiosity, especially with things that you really enjoy like coin collecting. But spread that out...even to things that are less interesting, but perhaps more important. (stepping off my soapbox)

Pick up a few boxes early for this weekend hunt.

They have been inspected by The Big Bad Wolf.

    Hopefully he smells something good!

I have a box or more still to go through this weekend. But found this beauty 1954S this morning. The reverse is a little dirty but I’m happy just to find it!

It quickly got back in a case after taking a couple photos.

The 1989 P Clash is one you should send along photos of to Mad Die Clashes. Especially with the rotation. I took a look and none is listed, but that's one folks would really find nice to attribute. Nice find!!
