Geez..... Heck of a box hunt last night. You ever get one of those box hunts you wish would never end? This was one of those boxes. I was up all night with this box!!!

Another great box. Got a nice rotated die error. The 1992D is probably one of the most common rotated errors you will find with Jefferson Nickles. I believe we have already found a few on this thread. It would be cool to see how many I pull and have a photo of the rotation on all of them side by side.

2- Errors 1992D Rotated Die and a 2005D Planchet Damage above "Five"
    1-1952S
    1-1939P
    5-AU/BU 1959D,1966P,1971D,1988P
    12-Common 50s
    4-Common 40s
    4-2009D

Hey, would you happen to know anything about this coin? Thinking it might be improperly annealed. It's canadian but it's still a nickel. Found today, in the same box with "Moolah" in it. :)
(Other canadian coin is just there for contrast)

Also, if it is improperly annealed, any idea on worth?

    Btw, nice box.

EDIT; the pictures make it look a bit grainy, and it looks more like lustre in hand then in photos.

Yes, the rotated nickel is my favorite for this lot. Fun find! I'm actually shocked how fast you can get through your boxes and still find the more difficult finds you've been making. Good for you!

@GH#75 I think it's just a plated specimen like the kind you can buy off the Home Shopping Network. It looks like it was in circulation for awhile and the plating is coming off the rims. Worth investigating though.

Should I weigh it? Or will it be practically the same as a normal nickel?

Exactly...to thin to add any appreciable weight that would move it outside of typical norms. I've never found a plated Canadian nickel in all my CRH days, but several Jefferson nickels that were plated...especially the Westward Journey/Peace nickels. Those must have been sold on HSN-like networks by the droves. Folks ended up spending them after a while. I recall on CRH event when I must have found close to a couple dozen. I ended up giving them away to folks I worked with that had kids in the hopes that some would become future collectors.

Whoa so I’m still pretty novice.. are these Canadian rotated nickels collectible? I found one not long ago but put it in my foreign junk pile.

Ill have to show my set up one day and how I go thru each roll. Once I show pictures and explain I think it should help a lot of people.

These last three boxes have been great. I got one more box to post but it's going to have to wait til tomorrow.

This box reminded me to WARN YOU on lamination peel errors. If the peel is still attached to the coin IT WILL CUT YOU!... I happened to find two. The 1981P is like small razor blades on his cheek. And the 2020D has a nice triangle peel next to the rim that caught me as I was flipping it.

Some ugly silvers but I'll take it. And I also notice these 3 boxes I posted this week have a lot higher number of AU/BU oldies in them. I wonder if this will continue when I get 6 boxes next week?

    2-Key Dates 1939D and a 1955P!!!!
2- Errors 1981P Lamination Peel Obverse and a 2020D Lamination Peel Reverse
    2-Silvers 1942P and a 1945P
    1-Foreign 2015 Singapore
    2-1951D
    1-1939P
    7-AU/BU 1954D,1959D,1964D,1970S,1982D,1989D

Nice box!! And the '55 looks like the better obverse die! Not the mushy one.

So my two boxes of nickels this weekend yielded no buffaloes but the winners are:

    1938 no mint mark
    1941-s
    1942-d (2)
    1944-p silver
    1949-s
    1952-d
    1954 no mint

plus maybe a dozen or more high mintage pre 60’s.

Those 1942 D's are actually very hard to find in VF or better condition. And they are generally worth more too. Doublecheck your 1941 S to see if it is a Large S or Small S. Large S are worth about 10x over the Small S nickels for that date.

Thanks for the pointers Kevin. I now have 4-41’s total now and upon looking at them again I did notice this one seems to be larger than the others. Your opinion? You can be the judge on the better looking of my 42 D’s.

Yeah it seemed like in the 50's Philly really didn't care about quality control. Any philly I pull is washed out in some way. Waiting on that day to pull a 55 MS68 Six Full Steps!!!
