    This is pretty far-fetched, but it's possible that the name CHASE is actually "HAS" with decorative flourishes before and after. Admittedly the final character really does look like an E in at least one example.

    But H.A.S. are the initials of H. Alvin Sharpe who was the other celebrated designer (along with Blaine Kern) of Mardi Gras doubloons in the period. Note the reference in the gold doubloon posted just above.

    Far-fetched, but possible anyway.
