Yes. Since I used the phrase "all the big silver coins from mid-century Mexico," I thought a list might be in order - going out to 1979 because it didn't seem complete without the 100 pesos:

xlrcable thanks for the list. Very helpful. I need to pick up the 1955-56 Hildago and a 1960 Hildago/Madera coins next. I like those 40mm coins that are .90 silver the best. I picked up another 1947 5 Pesos Cuauhtemoc on eBay yesterday afternoon.

I didn't realize how collectible, and beautiful, some of the early Mexico coinage is. I've noticed there's been a larger demand by collector's as well. A growing and more affluent Latin American collector base in the US will know doubt help drive demand.

Some mintage numbers I ran across for Mexico 10 pesos .90 silver:

    1947 Cuauhtemoc 5,110,000
    1948 Cuauhtemoc 26,740,000

    1955 Hidalgo 585k
    1956 Hidalgo 3.5 million
1957 Juarez 100k (Edge Lettering: INDEPENDENCIA Y LIBERTAD)
    1960 Hidalgo/Madera conjoined bust 1mil

Hope this was helpful and I couldn't have done it without xlrcable's great post.

APMEX has them from time to time. Last price was $27 but silver has fallen since then. Most of the ones I got were AU to low end MS, but I sent two to of what I considered to be the best and they came back as 1947 MS66 and 1948 MS65.

A very beautiful design - the replacement coin not so much.

Atarian you must of been quite pleased to have them return with such high grading. That's awesome. Can you post a pic of the coins when you have a chance? If you could that would be great to see what they look like and use them for grading comparisons. DSC07294.JPG DSC07302.JPG

Very nice! Thanks for posting the pics. I love all the details of the design especially Cuauhtémoc's head dress and the eagle with the snake. Cool indeed.

Do you have an opinion on what grade the coin I posted pics of is?

Nice slideshow, I am still working on my set, I have about 5 left to get, not counting gold and the new pesos

Based upon those I posted, which are ANACS, and my other graded one (below), I'd say MS67 all day long and maybe MS68. That one just blows mine away.

Very happy to see some different Mexican Coins on CT, mostly silver coins to boot. Here's my Cuauhtemoc coin and one of my all time favorites. I love the toning on my coin and appreciate the chance to show-it-off. :D

The 1921 two peso I picked up from another collector, he asked me to make him an offer, I told him that I was loathe to do so, because it might be considered a low ball, but it was all I could afford at the time, so I got my two peso for 25 dollars

Your MS66 is well struck. Better than my 1947 I posted a picture of. All the details of your MS66 are in high relief. Much more so than my coin.

That's a nice coin. The toning really adds some character.

It's great you have access to the Mexican silver coins locally. I live in a small town with one LCS that pretty much just sells bullion and Morgans. I've never been to an ANA event but I want to real bad.
