[QUOTE="Bmmartin, post: 4392575, member: 98956"]Hi y'all! Just to hopefully put the issue (and this thread) to bed... Although I know it won't be until the CPG is released later this year (assuming no pandemic-related delays). Be careful of blanket statements. Apparently ALL of the experts did not already decide that the "5" was nothing. Both Mr. Fivas and the late Mr. Stanton have: (1) Seen the coin AND (2) Agree it's a variety Are you stating that Mr. Fivas is NOT an expert? If so, you're pitting yourself against one of the original CPG authors (and several of its contributors)... By inference, you're also pitting yourself against anyone that relies on the CPG as a variety resource. I'll just throw out a few "names' here: NGC, PCGS, ANACS, probably many of your acquaintances... And, well, good luck with your credibility after that... Unless you're just trolling the variety threads, then take a bow!!! Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and people can be very wrong. Just please let them be your own and not someone else's, especially when that particular expert refuses to see one in-hand. If I want to hear from a parrot, I'll go to the closest pet shop. If I want to hear from an expert, I'll go directly to an expert. If you would like to seek an expert's advice, or at least one who has seen the coin, I suggest Mr. Fivas; he's extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. At least, IMHO, I consider him to be a leading expert. Some may disagree, again opinions are opinions... However, unless the editors change their minds prior to publication... let's agree to disagree. While we wait for the release date, how about we go back to talking about birds: When the CPG comes out, let's agree that one of us will let the other know how crow tastes? I'll admit if I'm wrong if this isn't a variety. Do you have the confidence to admit when you're wrong as well? The "big four" will typically not slab a variety that is not in the CPG, CONECA, etc. You'll find this info on their variety guidance pages, e.g., NGC's VarietyPlus.
