    Hi all,
A Dime. Minted 1978 in Philadelphia.

My wife and I were helping do a cleaning of my mother's apartment just getting rid of old stuff she had been keeping over the decades. She handed me a box full of old party favors she had saved, the kind you pin to your shirt. When I saw this particular one it brought back so many memories of me wanting the decoration that was glued to it.
1978 was the year. I wanted this Dime. Over the years I kept coveting it but was not allowed to take it.. Now 40 years later my mom finally told me "It's yours.. Take it"
Well here it is. Has a bit a glue residue on the Reverse and some toning. Let's see what I can do with it! :)

I also found this old button with a picture my dad and I took in Coney Island.. We loved going there! He got me started collecting coins!

It would make a nice center piece in a shadow box. :)

Why did you remove the dime from the ribbon? I would have left it on as a family heirloom. :panda:

Boy. You better put it in a safe place Paddyman. You'll catch mind boggling hell if you loose those heirlooms.

Neat gift. I found a dime that is soldered to a safety pin in my mothers stuff too. It doesn't have the nice ribbon though.

I always thought people did this for the March Of Dimes events, but after looking at your mothers it made me second guess that. After some research I think I know what these are People have been making these for years. They are called Dime-In-Pins. Supposed to be a pun for Diamond Pins. Some even come with a little carrot hanging from them. These are called 1 Carrot Dime-On-Pins.
