Yeah I read some where recently about a 1989 D on a copper planchet too. Can't remember what mag I was reading. If I find it again I will attribute it.
That was CoinWorld https://www.coinworld.com/news/prec...r-sold-for-just-over-thirty-five-hundred.html
I couldn't find the 1986 but I did find the 1989-D and 1990-D. See post #20. Still waiting patiently here. (Tapping foot and drumming fingers.)
How do you keep a dummy in suspense? I'll tell you tomorrow. I think we're being played Matthew.. Have you arrived at home yet? We are anxious to see your 1991 3.11 gram, doubled die and strange sounding when you flip it Cent!
Well of course I am skeptical by nature, but until we see this miracle globule of metal, I will reserve judgment until an intelligent hypothesis can be formed about it's genuineness. If for example this coin is zinc (most likely) if it weighs heavy it could be a thicker rolled planchet. However, 24% heavier seems unusual.
Now if this coin weighs 3.1g then it is probably copper and probably not 1991. A likely scenario is that a 1971 or 1981 took a hit and it "looks" like 1991. One case is billions to 1 against, and the other is almost 100%. It's almost April 1st.
It's always something else. I am just wondering what it is. 1. Bad scale 2. mis identified date 3. zinc coin thick planchet 4. copper coin wrong date 5. yanking my chain 6. 1 in a billion coin find of a lifetime Photos could help identify authenticity. Or debunk same.
Well it's Saturday. Is it time to give up? It's not like there's any sporting events any where in the world.
The Nebraska high school sate play-offs are still on. They are broadcasting them on the Nebraska pbs site. I only know this because my mom is a teacher in Nebraska.
That is an option, the other 2 are, doesn't have the photo yet for certain reasons. Realizes the coin is not a superstar and is too redfaced to post.
Is it time to give up hope on this unicorn? The cemetery is down the street you know? You must have been something before electricity. You want to make fourteen dollars the hard way?
