So I got this coin last week , Thought it would be cool to have an example of this type of coin, as I didn't have one. After i got it home I checked it out and found it is a die clash. It seem like I have seen i few of these posted here, a my first though was this seems like a common Error. I am posting to find if anyone think this is a common error for this type coin? And what value it may add to a $10.00 coin. Reverse is upside down for visual recognition. There is some clash marks on obverse but they are quite faint.
That's one of the better Clashed Die Three Centers, but they're not rare, based on my experience. A bit Scarce, yes. As a rough guess, I'd say if you put the coin up on Ebay (it's closer to a $20 coin, imo) it would probably bring double the normal coin's value, because a lot of Ebay folks haven't seen this nice a clash before. So, anywhere from $35-$40 or thereabouts, as a rough guess. Nice error for a normal coin's price, that's for sure.
That's a great die clash. I didn't even enlarge the photo. It stood out and it so clear of an outline. Great for the price.
As Fred said these aren't rare...you see a lot of 65 and 66 's just like yours with full profile clash. I have several ,and I know that C-B-D is also a fan of nickel thrimes. A fun series to collect for the clashes but a series that's next to impossible to complete. But this series offers up some of the best die clashes as well varieties do a search on CT and I'm sure you'll see some fine examples
