I just received my set. I only ordered 1, with the intention of keeping it. It is really magnificent and the presentation is outstanding. I am so happy to have it. Would I sell it for $1,000.00? No. Would I buy 1 for $1,000.00? No. I would encourage everyone, though, to keep at least 1 set for yourself and not have it graded; just leave it the way it is and was intended. Something like this really shouldn't fall victim to the sterile slabs of grading (if you intend on keeping it, that is). I think we have gotten so caught up in seeking perfection and profit when it comes to collecting and we forget about the simple pleasure of just enjoying the coins and how beautiful they really are. I will definitely keep this set in its original presentation box as opposed to holding the coins captive in grading slabs. All of the coins look really, really good with the exception of the uncirculated w. It has a very slight nick on it. The reverse proof and the uncirculated s appear to be pretty much problem-free, which was my hope. This set is so great and I hope everyone who gets it really takes the time to enjoy it.
I agree. I got 5 sets and sent them all in to be graded (too bad they didn't have some option where you could only grade 4). I am having the OGP returned and I intend to crack one set out of the holders to return to the OGP, as that is how I prefer to keep my own coins. The decision to grade them was due to wanting to sell some to pay for the 2 sets I want to keep.
