The new Native American $1 coin is not exactly bullion (release 4/26/12), but in this quanity is it? I am considering one 250-coin Box and would like to hear comments. I imagine they would have to be stashed away for years just to recover the premium.
Sure you can call them bullion, if you consider that the overall composition of the new Golden Dollar is 88.5% copper, 6.0% zinc, 3.5 % manganese, and 2.0% nickel, and are willing to pay an astronomical premium.
Buy them to spend them, cherry pick a few you want to keep. Don't buy them to hoard them away, the government is already doing that.
Why repeat ourselves when there is plenty of info already out there: http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/info/?action=09 http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/nativeAmerican/index.cfm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_American_Dollar
Yeah about that premium......Why is a roll of $1 Presidents $7 cheaper than the roll of $1 Native American? 32.95 vs 39.95
Supply and demand... There is more demand for the Native American I presume... this is a guess though..
Yep, I like that idea because I can sell it to my wife. The President's 250 roll box + shipping = $1.124 per coin and I can accept that premium. But the Native American's roll price of 39.95 + shipping may just prove too discouraging to buy the 250 roll box. What a bummer! I think this is the best reverse of any coin this year. Since it's not silver I can easily pass on it.
You nailed it. I'm getting some, and will cherry pick to keep, give away several for presents to kids...not sure if just a roll or two, or a box 'o' 250. I'll bet they go for $2+ apiece at the LCS before too long.
Because the Native American tribes have their casinos to fund the maintenance of their burial grounds, but us tax-paying collectors have to foot the bill to maintain the burial sites of the former presidents. Chris
