I received my 10 sets yesterday. I busted 5 sets open and from the 5 sets under a halogen light and magnification, I feel I have 3 sets that would grade SP 70. 1 nickel might not grade SP 69 as it has a tiny milkish spot under magnification the size of a straight pin tip. Overall, I am happy with the quality.
That's my favorite SAE set. It has both coveted finishes. I still have a couple. I just don't remember those playing out like these.
1029 HRS SATURDAY AUG 6, 2017. 225th Anniversary Enhanced Uncirculated Coin Set. THE U.S.Mint is still accepting orders; Household Order Limit: None. I ordered one.
Not the exact same story, but something like 10-20 percent of orders for that set ended up being canceled as well
These are US mint issued 225th anniversary sets that are the first of their kind. (all denominations) Being discussed on a coin forum. So these were highly anticipated. (maybe not well executed) but definitely collectable. For you to post what you did was ridiculous IMO. I personally, don't purchase from Littleton, but others may. Who are you to condemn what others do???
I really don't understand all the talk, pro and con, concerning the 225th anniversary set. As a collector I collect what I like. I liked the enhanced ASE in the West Point Set and in the 4 piece Kennedy Set. The 225th Ann. Set has all the circulating coins enhanced and it only cost $29.95. If it goes up in value, fine, if it doesn't a $29.95 cost is not going to kill my coin collecting budget.
[Like that danged Congratulations Set! DANG! I missed that one and had to shell out better than $100 to insure that I at least got one for my Dansco!] What slot did you put it in your Dansco Album?
What I have noticed is that my order placed on 8/1 shipped almost immediately. The Mint also quickly sent me a confirmation. The order I placed 8/3 is still pending. They sent me an email stating the order is received, it doesn't look like the confirmation email from my first order. My guess is they are still resetting from the cancellations so it's taking a bit longer to process orders. On the other hand, I hope they don't pull the rug out from under anyone who was shut out in the first offering. My first two sets are in hand. If they do pull the rug out on people, I will gladly give up my second two sets (assuming thenrug isn't pulled on me) to collectors who were shut out..and for what I pay, no mark up. I couldn't sleep at night if I gouged people under the circumstances. Not that I judge people who are marking them up. Everyone has to do what their conscience will accept. Unless it's fraudulent, of course.
I made an order on 8/1 (shipped 8/2) which did *not* include the Enhanced set which I should be receiving today. My Enhanced set order from 8/3 still has "PROCESSING" in it.
My 2 sets arrived today, here's a couple images. I must say both sets are nice. Yes I did open the lens to take images. Not the best but you get the idea, maybe.
Oh, it's heinous indeed, but sometimes........sometimes the little fellow gets lucky, and I don't mean to be coy. To give a Pennsylvania term.......'That boy standing in a dung heap?'
just received my sets today - and i must admit, they are MUCH nicer than pictures allowed credit for....still think the observe of the quarters looks a little washed out - but the nickel is magnificent! -as is the kennedy half! i compared the finishes to the regular 2017 uncirculated set and the 2010 satin finish set - i am very pleased with these new sets and hope that giving some away as gifts might entice an interest or two in our wonderful hobby!
