bama guy, Don't give up hope yet. If what she said is true, then there is a possibility for the AGE set. I won't give up hope until they tell me that all are shipped and the store is closed. It would be great if they used their discretion to break up the 10 limit orders to less so as to get customers at least one (especially if they are cancelling orders due to bad credit card info), but who know is that is a possiblity. We may know by the end of the month. I don't plan to get my ASEs graded, but from the looks of what the sellers are getting for the graded sets, it might be worth a gamble. I did not buy mine to make an immediate profit so I am taking a risk that they will be worth more in the future. I would say that if you want to take profits now, then send them for grading. If not, wait to see if the prices trend up and then have them graded. But, as many have said on this forum, investing in coins can be very risky. Good luck! Dragon
ND86, Thanks again for the info. Now if you could just get access to the mint's shipping orders/priority list, we would really show you the love Dragon
thanks Dragon. for someone like me who has been out of it for 20+ years and got started with the gold buffalo's and jumped into the AGE and ASE in a matter or a few months it has been an experience from the mint to the credit card companies, I feel like i have been in a warp drive . I do enjoy coin talk very much and find it a nice mixture of very knowlege people to people like myself newbies. I have always felt welcomed in here and maybe i can get better informed and add to something to it. Have not figured how format my post yet. think i am just to lazy but would like everyone to know that I ordered ASE (Silver set) on the secound day somewhere around 6 pm central and my status has changed today to " in stock and reserved". Not sure what that means but at least they are pushing a button or something. . when you think of they made 25x more silver sets than they did the gold sets, but the Silver sets are 26x cheaper. thought that was kind of interesting
sorry for the double post but I ment to add that I plan to give a couple of my sets as christmas presents to a couple of special friends. while they are not what you really call collectors, they know enought to appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of the silver sets.
Nick.... I have tried to find this definition for this status on the mints web page but have been unable to. Think some informed person will let us know. I would think it would ship very quickly but this is only a guess. you know it has been my experience that people hear what they want to. when one tries to interpt policies and definations , they tend to read into them what they want..... gosh someone tell me how to start a paragraph lo. Drangeon.. i am more than a collector than an inverstor. i like coins becouse of their beauty and history even in the modern issues, heck they will be old some day. i tend to favor the higher grades which with my money , the moderns are the only thing i can afford. I agree with you anyone who collects coins for purely investment purposes better know what they are doing or be very lucky. Like my dad use to tell me "nothing is worth more than what some poor fool is willing to pay for it.'' He told me a few other choice things but this is not really a good place to post them if i do not want to be banned
"In stock and reserved" Should I bother calling a most likely ignorant customer service rep to find out what this really means??? Some of you`s that already received this A10 set already sold some of them for top hype dollar. Where does this leave the rest of us....??? I will probably sit on these A10 sets. Just like I am sitting on some MC05 Millenium Coin and Currency Sets, and some 1999 Proof SBA`s. If.... as some have posted, these are not sold out yet, then I am really concerned. Should I buy another 10 under a relative`s name, or are we beat? My opinion.... IF only 250,000 reverse proofs alone are minted, does this mean these will be highly sought after? IF ONLY 250,000 are minted.... Singles???? A year or so ago, a really, really old-timer here asked about some 1995 anniversery sets that he had. I told him the 1995 W ASE all by itself was selling for more than $5000. Of course this coin only has a mintage of 30,125. I dunno the potential of the A10 set. I would like to hear what you`s think.
My order for 1 set is still listed as "order in process" but I just checked my credit card statement online and the Mint charged the card today. So take heart everyone because no matter what their website says,as soon as they take your money, they ship almost immediately.
Got my 10 sets yesterday. They were sent FED- EX next day. Only problem was that FED -EX doesn`t care to deliver to residential home addresses in the late afternoon (LIKE UPS DOES) when most people get home from work. I see the UPS trucks in my condo development from between 3:00 and 5:00PM EVERY DAY. The Door Tag from Fed-Ex said I could pick up my package from their regional facility AFTER 1:00PM, which seems to indicate that they tried to deliver before noon. So I drove for half an hour in heavy New Jersey rush hour traffic to pick up my sets from the regional FED-EX facility. In between getting home from work and going to school at night. In any case, I broke open my Mint box of 10 sets When I got to school at 6:00PM after I picked them up from FED-EX on my way to school.. I just had to see the coins. HMMMMM, BAD MOVE!!!! After I got home, I see the 10 pack unopened boxes are going for $2600-$2800 on ebay. MY BAD, I thought about it before I busted the box. I should have checked. But I REALLY, REALLY had to see the coins.........
bz this coin set is going to be a must for Silver eagle collectors and there are a bunch of them. I may be wrong but i think in the orginal sealed mint box other than to insure that they are indeed part of this set but also to insure that the set have not been cherry picked for TPG submission Think they are headed for the price you mentioned anyhow. sooner than later
please dont tell me that i wasnt suposed to open the box it was shipped in! i did.. thinking it would be sealed on the inside of each set.. no what? is it too late to sed to get graded? and yes the coins were out of there holder and bouncing around... what to do now?... also what has been the common grade for this set?
You can't open shipping box to get them graded and have the Twentieth Anniversary Set designation, at least not for the unc and the regular proof. You can still have them graded, and the reverse proof will get the designation no matter what, as it is only available in the set.
As I posted, I did the same thing. I was so eager to see the coins. I REALLY thought about not opening the 10 set box. And I did anyway. I also thought the coins would be in a sealed kind if case like proof sets. I really did not expect the Commemorative coin airtites kind of pack. Leaves room for all kinds of cherry-picking shennanigans in the airites. Of course this absolutly kills the market for the non-sealed individual sets, once the 10 set box has been opened..........
Changed my order from back ordered until 12/08/2006 to: AE 20TH ANNIVERSARY 3-COIN SILVER RBU 2 $100.00 $200.00 In stock and reserved Could they finally be on the way to dear old me?
Moen1305, when was your order date? I was just wondering how far the mint is in filling orders. I'd say if anyone has a chance of having an order cancelled it would be me; ordered on 11/21.
My order date was 11/02 and no movement yet. ship date still 12/08 . A friend order about 2 weeks before me and his status just changed (12/08) to in stock and reserved Listened to some sound advise (ND86) and bought 4 sets on a thursday. Think they annouced an offical sell out the following monday.
i had the same ship date 12/8 and the ship date has passed and the coins have not shipped yet. any ideas as to what may be happening. the website still shows 12/8. thanks.
I ordered October 13th. The sets I ordered were listed as to be shipped on 12/08/2006 until on 12/08/2006 they were changed to reserved and in stock. I've heard nothing about them since. I don't know if they are shipped or not. Doesn't really matter to me when they show. They are just extra to sell as "unopened" sets on ebay when the price gets good. There may be some method to all this madness. :goof:
