The only "Blue Label" I'll be seeing is Pabst! Ever time I toast to another set being broken apart making my original packaged sets even that more rare!!
If the 2006 w came from the gold/silver set ...it has a blue stripe on the label. If the 2006 w came from the silver 3 piece set, it has a black stripe on the label. I imagine that when the 2006 w singles are released, it might not have any strip on the label to differentiate it from the others.
Colored labels now - just more marketing gimmicks The coins are identical in every way, I can't see how it could matter in the least.
oh my gosh just so many similiar coins. Just put a different colored label and put it in a different limited addition and you have almost instant frenzy. sounds like shades of the big ''FIRST STRIKE, FIRST DAY" gimmic. To see ngc 70 grade SAE selling for around 4k plus and the ICG 70 grade sets selling for about $500 bucks on hsn really makes me scratch my.....
Just visited the Indiana State Numismatic annual coin show in Indianapolis. One dealer was selling the 3 piece ASE set for $250 and another for $175 (both ungraded). The second seller was buying sets for $160. I mentioned to the first dealer that you could still buy from the mint for $105, and he insisted that he believes many orders will not be fulfilled and he thinks this will be a $500 dollar set in the future. While I beleive that may be wishful thinking, I was surprised that several buyers standing around indicated that they had ordered their coins on the first day of release and still have not had them shipped.
I ordered a set on the first day, and I have not recieved it yet, though I got the email saying it was shipped early last week. I ordered a second set a couple of weeks after they first went on sale, and that one is still "backordered". I guess they'll get here when they get here. But if sellers are buying them for $160, it is tempting to order a few more, and if I actually get them to use the proceeds to finance some other coins. Though I'm also still debating on whether I should get a $50 Buffalo for $800 too before 12/31.
Well the mint hasn't shipped a good many of the sets yet but then the mint still has about 50k to go before its a sell out so I don't think the people that have already ordered them will be turned back....just wait and I'm sure you will get htem. Speedy
Drangeon. i ordered 4 more sets on thursday and was told they have been told to keep taking orders so they were not sold out by then if you can believe the mint folks. it would not surprise me if they did not sell 50k plus the first day so they will have to get past these orders first. Have had a lot of trouble getting a simple order ship to a postal address . at first i was being charged $4.95 per order. then something like $7.95 becouse of the gold and silver content. then on last order i post now none of my orders show any shipping charge and my AGE was pushed to 11/27 probably becouse they updated my account. Good luck to you with your orders, i have had about enuff and will not call again. oh i was told by another non front line employee that if your order is being processed you should get it. back to the game. luck everyone
Bama Guy, How's it going. Just curious, are you an Alabama or Auburn fan? I looked and my AGE set has now been changed to 11/27 also. I spoke with a mint customer service rep last week and was told that if an order was not received before the sellout, then the chances of it getting filled are very, very slim. I did receive my 2 ASE sets a few weeks ago and actually ordered a couple more. i was tempted to sell one of my sets for $160 today, but actually think the reverse proof in the set will surpass that eventually. Especially when I see the prices sellers are getting for 1996 unc ASEs. I realize one is an unc and another is a proof so I am not exactly comparing apples to apples. But my thoughts are that there are many collectors of the ASE series and the reverse proof will be a must have coin. Not a $4K coin like the 1996 W, but at least a $150 coin.
I actually like both auburn and Alabama i went to a small college called troy. poor alabama they are having such a ruff season have some talent but not enought. the only thing i would hate is that by putting off ones order for the AGE if one wanted to take the big plunge and get 70 graded set, then it would truly be out of ones reach, at least mine. I found there are least 2 different levels of customer service. the one that takes the orders and if anything more complicated than that, is best to thank them for their time and go to the next levell , but they seem to have as much trouble as the front liners getting my simple order straight . I have the AGE on one credit card and the ASE on another. when i tried to order them (ASE) the rep. could not not tell me which credit card they were going on becouse she did not have access to my credit card. if it were to go on the one I had my AGE it would have exceeded my limit and would not have got either. So i thanked here call the mint and pressed 0 to get an apparently differently level of customer service rep. I was told that i was talking to a "front line" worker and she did not really know, but she could help me, go figure. anyhow i have spoke with at least 3 speacialist or supervisor at what i understand is the next level and was told the same thing that if an order is being processed then you should get them, but who know. I can see why they took so many "next in line orders" frustration will cause many to cancel . anyhow not to much left in this year . would seem they would have to ship them this year if they are going to ship them. good luck again and there will be a lot of stuff to spend money on next year. I would have to agree that it looks pretty bleak for the AGE, but it has been an experience but not sure what kind lol
Yes, you have to laugh. I have been told so many things by so many different reps that I don't know what to think. The last guy I spoke with did seem to know what he was talking about. When I asked him when they would start to cancel orders, he told me that they never did cancel orders for the Ben Franklin coins that they took additional orders for and did not fill. I don't remember any posters posting that their Ben Franklin orders were cancelled so I cannot verify that. You are right about a lot of stuff to buy. One seller at the show asked me if I was buying and I told him that this has been one expensive year so I was just looking! Alabama has had it rough, but Auburn looks good.
Hmmm..... Are you talking about the 3 coin Silver Eagle set??? I ordered mine on the first day and got a shipping date of 12/08/06. I understood that everyone had a shipping date of 12/08/06. My recent update from the US Mint still confirms a ship date of 12/08/06. If you are talking about the set US Mint Code A10, then I do not believe that you received it. If you received the A10 set in the middle of October, then I am really, REALLY ****ed. I have to admit that I havn`t kept up on the the status of the A10 set........
Yeah, thats what I`m saying. Thats the only info I`ve heard......... only my order was for the max 10 sets...
one of the many many reps i spoke to said the expected ship date is just an estimate and subject to change and yes a ton of these coins are out there all ready. the coin shows are selling them in 70 grade from NGC for up to 7k and in ICG for around $500 bucks in the same grade. That is for the 20th anniversary silver eagle.Never have figured out how HSN can have all the first day issues. it is a trip to watch them cut each other . By the way did anyones date of order on their TRACK ORDER disappear . BZ I do not think you should worry, if you ordered them that early you will get them. From what i have heard somewhere, they are way behind on shipping them. The mint is not not reporting a sell out but do not know if that means anything . I work with a major distribution center and I thought we had problems. After dealing with the mint , it make me appreciate what a fine job the people I work with are doing. For that i am grateful
Yes, we are talking about the A10 (3 piece ASE set). My ship date was 10/13 and I received them a few days afterwards. However, you are not alone in not receiveing them. I spoke with several people at a coin show yesterday and they had not received theirs also. Not sure how the mint decides shipping order although I will say that I remember placing my order within 10 minutes of them going on sell. Generally, I am pleased with the mint. However, their customer service reps seem to be all over the board in answering questions about orders. And they seem to be looking at different dates at times than those which are posted on-line. Once I was talking to a rep and told them the on-line date was somthing like Sept 27. They said their computer screen showed a date of November something (completely different). So, you have to be patient. I would assume since the mint has not announced a sell out that those who have ordered coins will eventually get them. They may miss the big selling frenzy though.
I spoke with a sales rep. tonight after I Said I would not trying to get my shipping account correct, which she did. actually spoke to one who seem to know what is going on . Said that my first order of silver(A10) eagle should be shipped before the 12/08 as they are fast approching the 2nd day of orders. Dragon, she also told me the next truck for the AGE (A12) would be would be on 11/27 and was not sure if there would be another. She reviewed my order and i found out i ordered mine later than i thought I did. She said i had a chance of getting it. when i tried to get her to assign a grade to it all whe would say is that a lot of people would like to be in my situation but there was no promise. Said I was at the bottom lol. I have pretty much given up after that talk but it was nice to speak with someone that was informed. They are having a big big problem with credit cards not clearing and a lot of orders have been canceled by them. Seems people are using the debit cards a lot and there is a daily limit on the amount that can be spent and therefore do not clear . The mint is very unforgiving on this and simply moving to the next order. said a lot of people have changed banks becouse of this. I would probably do the same thing but we only have one bank. seems you order well before me and think you have a much better chance than i do . been thinking of getting a certified set anyhow. good luck . This to shall pass. anyone recommend any good coin dealers.
If you look at the sale figure in NN this week its what has sold total since day one and its just under 200k....so it looks like about 54K to go.....I had NN right here so I could post the info right but don't see it so it must have gotten moved. Speedy
I am curious , how many would send their silver eagle sets off to be graded and certified. It seems the expense of grading them in regards to their issue price, would make that prohibited.
