I got these in my change today at a Japanese grocery store I shop at. I didn’t know a new quarter was coming out this year.
2024!!!so what has happened 2 years into the futureyou can just report the thread to the mods and they can fix it for you.Nice quarters they actually just came out for a little over a month now.
Can I get the winner of the 2024 superbowl, kentucky derby and World Series please? J/K. nice find, I've found the cent and the dime so far, no new quarters yet. if the last three years are any indication quarters won't show up around where I am until about April, and I'll likely start with the 2nd design here. it's what happened in 2019, 2020 and 2021. I got Washington Crossing before I saw the Tuskeegee Airmen quarter.
Thank you for posting that link. Great reading of the brief history of each one. So it is George Washington on the obverse. The hair style threw me off. Last night while I was looking at the coins, I was wondering if that was actually Washington or not.
@John Burgess , It must be my lighting and something I did in the editing process. Why? Let's just call it "Purple Rain"!!
Yes sir. That is Mr. Washington and should have been the design of our quarter. Instead the familiar design was used and this one was relegated to a 1999 five dollar gold commemorative. I am glad to see the design used on the new quarters. I think it is a much bolder presentation of Mr. Washington.
I already have some Maya Angelou's, Sally Ride's, and Wilma Mankiller's. Just two more this year, I think they have yet to be released. I hope they make quarters for Amelia Earhart, Harriet Tubman, and maybe Rosa Parks. It's unfortunate that the 2023's are going to have Eleanor Roosevelt (already on a gold $10 first lady coin), and Maria Tallchief (already going to be on the Native American dollar), when two other women could be represented and acknowledged instead of them. It's a huge missed potential.
