Santa 1 brought me an outstanding Daniel Carr ICG signature quarter - for a coin design of his - the Rhode Island quarter. This one is an amazing MS66. I've not put in a good closeup of the reverse side yet as I was not getting a good one with my camera yet. But you can see the quality from the George Washington obverse side that I am showing. I absolutely love this, it goes well with my other modern quarters that I've gotten, both slabbed and raw. One of these days I will have to photo them and do a presentation.
The second slabbed coin I was gifted from Santa 1 is a sweet toned 1962 dime. My photos here do not do it justice, but in hand it is an outstanding example of a modestly and aesthetically toned dime. I will definitely treasure this. Thank you so much, Secret Santa!

(pics of the dime being put on next post, but until then, here's a pic of my doggo also)

Again, thank you so much, Santa. This one is also great because I haven't gotten that many Proof coins in my collection, mostly I've focused on the business strikes. I definitely need to be expanding my interests in coins into the Proof strike realm.

Santa #2 completely blew me away with this trio. I never in a million years would have dreamed that this would come my way. I have had a few purchases of older coins, from the pre-Civil War era, but have not really delved into them much yet, other than a few I bought, and my going to shows, trying to find some that I can look at in hand. So these are most welcome to my home. Thank you, Santa. Looks like I really need to get an Overton book and start learning about Capped Busts, eh?

I have had one Capped Bust before, the 1827 Square base 2 Half Dollar, and that is one of several slabbed coins I purchased specially to be given to my son, and he now has that one along with a number of other ones, so that one is no longer in my 'possession'. I am slowly, year by year gifting him slabbed coins. He will be, hopefully, a lover of American historical coinage. He took a bit of an interest in the older coins I was showing him, so I think he will appreciate all this in time.

The coins here are a 1826 half dollar, I think maybe it's an O-115. Then also a half-dime from 1831 and an 1833 dime.

Thank you Santa #2 for the lovely letter and the 2021 Red Book autographed copy by editor and chief, Jeff Garrett. Thank you and Merry Christmas! I have a special place for this in my library.

Santa treated me very well this year. In addition to a little treat - first noted to be coal in the accompanying letter, but found to be a Snickers bar :) - Santa correctly deduced that I love all things silver. Santa gifted me a 2010 Boy Scouts Silver Dollar, which is especially cool since I am an Eagle Scout and worked for years in high school and college at our local Boy Scout camp on the staff. I also really like the little historical book I was given, which is basically a big buy price list from Max Mehl's coin company in Fort Worth, copyright 1930. It is a treasure trove of numismatic history...later in the book they have some sell prices listed: A quarter dated before 1837, 90 cents. Isabella Quarter, $2.50. Trade dollar, $1.40. This will be fun to explore. Thanks, Santa, for your generosity!

Opened my very generous Secret Santa package on Christmas morning.

1874 S Seated Liberty Half Dollar.
Santa somehow knew I have been working on a holed type set and this coin is a definite upgrade from the current 74p that's in there as the S mint mark is much scarcer.

    1955 Franklin Half
I have a complete Franklin set but this coin will fit perfectly in my silver world birth year coin set.

    1955 Canadian Half
I have an almost complete set of Canadian halves and this coin received is a definite upgrade.

    Thanks Santa! IMG_20221226_161940011.jpg IMG_20221226_161952549.jpg IMG_20221226_162229083.jpg IMG_20221226_162238451.jpg IMG_20221226_162319118.jpg IMG_20221226_162330624.jpg

Thank you to my Secret Santa who did a wonderful job!

I received a gorgeous 1972 Polish 50 zlotych proof commemorating Frederic Chopin, in a lovely presentation case. What's funny is that I opened this present on my grand piano when I got home last night. Perhaps not many on cointalk know that I am a pianist, but I dearly love Chopin and have many coins and medals commemorating pianists, though I did not have this one yet.

My Secret Santa also gave me this copper Bitcoin. I also love this as I've looked at these bitcoin medals over the years and thought they were great. I'm adding this one to my album for art rounds.

Thank you Secret Santa! Sorry I didn't post sooner but waited until XMas to open and busy with family this week. Very excited to get two beautiful 1 ounce silver 2 pound Elizabeth II pieces. A very generous gift! I love Britannia as depicted on these, just gorgeous.

Britannia is typically associated with Queen Boudica or Boadicea; the Celtic Iceni ruler who led a revolt against the rule of the Roman empire. The symbolic figure of Britannia actually predates Boadicea however, to the time when the Romans first occupied land in the British Isles.

The icon was imported into Great Britain with the Roman conquest, and is based on the Roman goddess Minerva; the sponsor of arts, trade, strategy, and wisdom. Minerva was herself the Roman appropriation of the goddess Athena, and both are based upon the ancient Phoenician goddess Barati; recognised in the Indian Vedas as Goddess of the Waters.

Anyway, thanks Secret Santa & Coin Talk (& Joshua!!!!). What fun this is!

I know some of you are still waiting on your secret Santa gifts. For some of you, I know they are on the way, just arriving late! If, by chance, you haven't received your gift(s) by Wednesday of next week, please do reach out to me and a gift will be dispatched your way! From my own experience, it looks as though the postal service is backlogged still with several of my packages arriving late! Also, if you haven't taken the moment to post photos and a thanks to your Santa, please do!

A week late, but what the heck.........finally got around to taking some pics of the coins that Santa sent. It was a huge lot (well over 50) of British and commonwealth coins depicting the 5/6 portraits of the late monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.

Thanks Santa. I had a fun time looking through and photographing some of what you sent. I'd post more, but I don't want to hog the bandwidth. :)
