There are some interesting options and designs for this program including a privy marking the 100th anniversary and a Jackie Robinson silver medal. https://catalog.usmint.gov/negro-le...8.1614909349.1641221430-1423548807.1640875473 These go on sale 1/6/22, but it looks like shipping is not until 4/15/22. I'm not usually a fan of delayed gratification, but we'll see how I feel on Thursday. Anyone interested in these? TC
Shhhhh wait till I get the privy coin before advertising it lol. The gold looks like it'll be a bust, but the dollar and half are nice
Interesting to see the mint going down the privy mark road. I agree its a money maker for them as resellers, but do not see it benefiting the hobby long term IMHO. Just another tiny little variance for people to make way too big a deal out of.
As much as I like baseball and the history, I'm on the fence with these. Although I may go for the half. I just went backed and looked, I may go for the privy one instead or both.
I'll get the Unc dollar, but not sure if I'll get it from the mint or wait for the aftermarket. It will depend on how the sales go.
Though I'm definitely interested in the history of the Negro Leagues, it included some great players and it says a lot about American history, I'm not really interested in buying coins about the subject. I'd rather read a book or watch a documentary. I did visit the Negro Leagues museum in Kansas City some years ago. If you're in the area, it's worth a trip: https://www.nlbm.com/ But coins? Eh. I will likely pass. Plus, I don't really find modern commemoratives very interesting in general.
I mean just as a baseball fan even if you ignore the subject matter, the dollar coin really does do a great job capturing the sport of baseball.
It was a little too easy which makes me nervous but can always cancel and just buy one on eBay if the price crashes. The HHL of 1 seems to have been a mistake on their part
Fastest purchase I believe I ever made from the US Mint--all four silver and clad coins, plus the privy-marked coin, as well.
That's just cus there werent that many trying lol. I think the privy and the jackie robinson medal set will sell out at some point but other than that commemoratives have little interest. The proof morgan and peace dollar are really the only things with potential to crash the site this year. Last year was an outlier with the design change causing everything to be popular
I think they did a nice job on all three designs and the subject matter is good. I think they'll sell well (the privy will sell out) but not sure I want any. Too expensive and they won't be very scarce. Maybe I change my mind...
