Wonderful selection of ladies @Deacon Ray....All in really nice condition.. The Sabina..Is that a smile!?...Great art work too!...Congrats.
Nice coins Ray! Have you ever thought about going for a coin featuring Cleopatra? I know she was Egyptian but she was involved with both Caesar and Mark Antony. She even had a son (Caesarion) with Julius Caesar so I think she would still qualify as an Empress or Princess.
Wowza, DR! That's a fantastic set and gorgeous poster! Each coin is superb. Excellent curation, my friend!
Lovely Julia Maesa. I’m in the market for a denarius of her. I like how the die engravers typically show her aged face. On some coins she looks a bit like a frog. I want a frog one. But you have a glamour one. Very nice.
Again, you floor us with the beauty of your coins and design! Where is the image of that empress from? I think I'm in love Reminds me of the original RE Howard's cover artist, Frank Frazetta's, work. Just stuns a man to the core: Speaking of stunning, that Julia Paula is hard to come by, much more so in THAT condition I do also love your Faustina and Plautilla. Two ladies I also picked up this year:
Nice coins, deacon-ray, all excellent examples! I wish I had your patience and talent for graphic design! This is my only Julia Domna denarius, MATER DEVM reverse, 198 AD, SR-6593, purchased last year. I like the Sabina, Julia Domna and Julia Paula denarii the most.
Wow, those are all beautiful additions to your collection, DR! I especially like the Sabina and Julia Paula.
Gorgeous coins, @Deacon Ray! Obviously selected for quality -- well-centered, well-struck, and well-preserved. And a lovely presentation, too!
Thank you, @Ryro for reminding me that I needed to add an artist credit line. The painting is of Empress Theodora by Benjamin Constant, 1886 Check out for the whole image: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/941111653352629384/ I took the liberty of brightening the colors a bit.
D.Ray, It's a treat to see all these beauties together ! Many of these ladies were secret power-brokers .
Here are some beautiful paintings from the same Victorian period. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/94111...ageSignature=6d9a1b89509a4870127be0e5c998bbdb
